Good morning stitchers
brednall Sorry to hear of your problems. As has been said "talk" here if it will help even a little
mrsmp Thank you for posting the links to the variation on Celtic Christmas - it looks stunning
firefly Thanks for the reply about the stockings
sweetcarer Thank you for the link to your bookmark design. Lots of lovely free charts on there though they seem to out of free time :rotfl:
I've printed off quite a few.
Good luck with the competition
elliep If you like Joan Elliott designs then consider one of her fairies or angels ? Lots of inspiration in her blog
Though I really like the home sweet home one you posted
pm2326 Hope you get some stitching done (and surely your eyes are worth the small amount of electricity that modern light bulbs use?)
chicky I followed your link to 23rdspiral's post and ended up looking at her flickr photos (as you do) Seemed to be lots of photos of fabric there even if there weren't any xs kits
louise looking forward to seeing an update of your project 12. I know why my Christmas Cheer piece became a UFO. The chart is quite small and uses a lot of similar symbols so I have gone wrong twice recently  Have now realised that the solution is to enlarge the chart as it makes the symbols clearer for my old eyes.
Shelly Thanks for the feedback on the stockings. Your latest piece is so cute - have you got cats like the picture?0 -
Morning all. THanks for the support but I think if I start to post my ranting feelings on here, you'll either all think I'm mad, not want to read them or it might get me banned from posting any more!!!
Hoping to make a list of what I want to stitch. Must finish my second blackwork owl as it is for a friend of my mum's who saw my completed one and wanted one for his neighbour. If there wasn't a rogue thicker stitch in the first one, I would have sold him that one.
Keeping soldiering on but not sure this is how I want life to be for the foreseeable future

You are welcome and thanks.
Our cat couldn't be more different than the ones in the design! We currently have Lily, she is black and white. We also had Coco, she passed in 2008 and was pure black.
The story behind me doing this particular piece is hubby keeps badgering me for a kitten. He says we NEED one! I say both Lily and I can do without
I thought I'd stitch this piece as it was in my stash and then hubby can have 3 kittens :rotfl::heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

argh, I just typed a long response and it wouldn't post. Really should remember to copy before pressing the 'post' button!
I'd really like to do something colourful and christmassy but last time I did that I ended up stitching a beautiful JE Santa all year. He was lovely but I don't want Christmas all year again. I like larger projects as if I do small ones I don't frame them and they get put in storage where they're wasted really. So what to do?
1. Choose Christmas design and just work on it for as long as it takes
2. Find colourful non-Christmassy design
If 2 then any suggestions anyone? My stash consists of a pile of magazines, a bag of fabric and about 2/3 of the DMC colours so I don't have a stack of kits waiting to be stitched. I've been trying to get the JE ultimate collection book but it goes for crazy prices on ebay and I can't find it anywhere else. I want to stitch the stockings and maybe one of the angels from it. (If anyone has one they want to sell, I'm interested in buying).
Why not buy this or this ???
I have both of these items and have started stitching some small designs to fit the pen pot. The idea if I'm organised and finish in time for xmas is that I will give my friend the pen pot with 3 different stitched designs. Then for future birthdays and xmas, I will stitch new designs so she can change them to suit.
I might however get distracted making one for myself first !!

Thanks Flat Eric, I really do prefer stitching larger designs though. I'm very tempted by a cut through if I can get a nice one in chart form (not kit). I'm also very tempted by a 'dictionary of', maybe the bra one because my mum laughed at it for ages when I showed it to her online a year or two back. I could do it for her birthday (May - so I've got ages).
I'm just a little bit put off by the fiddly nature of both of these styles. has anyone stitched a 'dictionary of' or 'cut thru' design? do they have as much confetti stitch as it looks like?0 -
