  • Evening all just back from Grandads 90th birthday meal and I'm shattered, grandad had a brilliant time though and so did all the little imps!

No stitching for me tonight, but have sorted all my craft stuff today, didn't realise I had so much

    Night all see you tomorrow

  • Good morning stitchers. Can't believe it is getting on for noon and no one is in the cafe

Maria What a lovely occasion for you and the family to remember

I would like some advice please

I have fallen in love with a new design by Lanarte called Butterfly Girl

Bearing in mind what I confessed yesterday about my huge accumulation of stash and that I am trying not to add to it I'm not sure that I can justify buying it because not only is it quite costly but it also comes with 18 count Aida which I don't like so I would switch it for 32 count linen (I wouldn't need to buy this). I've found it at a good discount on ArtsandDesign but it is still £32.50 which seems a lot for what would be a pattern and the threads.

Looking back at this year I've been quite successful at not increasing my stash a lot - I've sold some, used some and only bought a few items (other than magazines which I have on subscription).

I saw the design 3 days ago and it is still on my mind. What do you think?

FE I checked out the Noel cushion in next month's Cross Stitch Collection - it looks like another stunning blackwork design
  • FOS, I say go for it if you really want it (i can't get your link to work though)

Me neither, but I googled it and it is really lovely! I'll keep an eye out and let you know if I see it cheaper.... not found it cheaper, but just had a thought, isn't there a seller where you can tell them the chart and the materials you want to use and they will arrange it for you as a kit at a reasonable price. If there is not, I think there should be.

just pondering aloud. Slightly delirious at present but not throwing up all the time so its a good start to recovery.

FOS - I couldn't get your link to work either but I also googled it and it is beautiful. For that kind of price I usually try to give myself a week and if I still want something I don't need then I seriously think about it then usually buy it. For things that cost more I think about it for longer.

Where are you with your current project? i.e. if you're finished or almost finished with what you're currently working on then have a look through your stash and if you don't fin inspiration there then buy Butterfly girl for next, but if you've got a lot to do on your current project then promise yourself that you'll buy it for yourself, if you still want it, when you're ready to stitch it.
  • Hey everyone, been a long time since I spoke up in here!! I still have the same UFO believe it or not (calendar bears) but the end is finally in sight!!

Quick question, hoping someone can help. I want to stitch next a square for a sick childs quilt. The design can be on any count but the maximum size can be 9 inches square. I would like to stitch something with a 'space' theme... rockets, stars and the like.

Please be certain I am absolutely NOT asking someone to send me a copy of something they have, or anything else of the sort that breaches all the copyright rules, I was just wondering if someone could recommend a chart/website/book/magazine etc etc that I may be able to get something suitable from.

    Thanks in advance xxx

ps - flowerofscotland, butterfly girl is lovely! (when you click on the link just put a : after the http and it works)

  • Hi little star if I'm after a specific type of small chart I will just Google it so for yours I would Google

    Free space cross stitch chart

And then I would look at the image pages and see what I can find

    Hth

I also googled your chart FOS and it is stuning but what elliep sense and I would go with her suggestion

Think I might be coming down with something, just walked into hobby craft got board and walked out with nothing! Lol

Hi all! I'm back. Got home from hospital yesterday tea time. Thanks so much for all your thoughts & good wishes.
The op went ok. I had a bile leak from my liver, which had to be clipped and I had a drain put in, so had to stay in hospital an extra night. Drain all gone now & my wounds aren't too bad. I was in a bit of pain in hospital from trapped gas in my abdomen, but once that passed, I felt much better. Didn't take any stitching with me, as I didn't think I'd be able to concentrate on it. As it turned out, I had a cannula in my right wrist, which would've stopped me stitching anyway. Read a bit of my book, in short bursts, but mainly slept a lot.
Missed out on my holiday, which is disappointing, but couldn't be helped. Glad to be home now. DVDs, stitching & some gentle walks for a while. And a proper catch up on here, of course...:)
