G300s off to be fixed :)

But my god is the Moto G a step up in performance.

    Amazing phone
    !

The mobile bargain of the decade so far imo. The G300 was a massive bargain at the time of its launch but the Moto G has taken this to another level!
  • I've got one of these as replacement for my galaxy ace which was robbed/lost it was better than that but 4 or so months down the line its playing up big time, very laggy/slow and almost unusable, no idea why

If I am going to get a moto g I would be expecting much better than the huawei

Good choice, Samsung make good performing cards.

OK - sorry to be a pest.
Someone has 'borrowed' my card reader so thought I'd back up the phone and card to my PC and then copy back when I'd put the new sd card in ...
Plugged phone into USB, said 'yes' to 'turn on USB storage, then looked at Windoze Explorer to see the following:-
E drive - called "CD Drive - Mobile Partner", with a green 'phone' logo - looking at 'properties' it has 7.77MB of space which is all 'used' (blue in the pie chart)
    F drive - removable disc - 2.02GB - all used
    G drive - removable disc - 7.27GB - 2.39 used, 4.88 free

Do I suspect that the E drive is the main workings of the phone, leave well alone???
F drive, the main 'internal memory' which says 'empty' when I look in 'settings' see my post #1377 of 17/12
Can I 'format' this? FAT32? or what??
G drive - I was merely going to copy this somewhere and then paste it back to my new SD Card. Correct??

    Advice ..... please :o

    Hi,
Your assumption on the drives are correct. I would be reluctant to do the copy over using the phone as a card reader though.

It depends on what you have on the card. IF its just data like music, videos and so on should be fine. But if it contains anything the phone is using such as installed software then copying all off is OK, but things may get sticky when you shutdown and start up the phone with the blank card in as the phone may not be able to find something it needs on the blank card.

Of course it may just cause an app to temporarliy crash until next boot with the restored SD card or it may do something freakishly unpleasant. I would try and do it in a PC or laptop with an SD card slot if you have a micro to normal SD adaptor.

Also correct you can just format to fat32 the new card as the G drive once in the phone/reader. (not the other drives)

I'm more confused now - not difficult :o

Copied the contents of E, F and G drives onto my PC
    E drive was simple
    F (internal) was reasonably easy - at 4 MB/sec
G (external micro sd) was difficult - 1.9MB/sec with several 'can't copy - try again or skip' errors

Anyway, I 'unmounted' the old SD card using the phone's menu and removed it, then installed the new SD card.
Powered up the phone, and everything seems to work without me actually copying and stuff back from my PC, just all the photos are missing (I can see them all on my 'back up')

Not sure what to do next (if anything) ???
There is an option in settings to 'erase internal storage' - would that help speed up the phone???

    Questions eh!!

    Hi

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I've watched this thread for ages, and managed to bag a bargain via Very in November 2012 for £60 odd.

However, like others my phone bricked at the start of January but since then I've had nothing but problems trying to get it fixed via Anovo/Huawei.

They received my phone on 6/1/14 and told me 7 - 14 days and having had no reply after two weeks I was told the part was on order but I'd have it within a week. I rang up again after 21 days and was told that normally the part takes 45 days to arrive from China but they had it in stock now, and the phone would be back with me by the end of January i.e before 28 days was up.

Guess what - it's now February and I still have no phone.

What makes it worse is that I'd like to use it for photos during Feb half term and my employers have an app that generates a code for me to log on remotely (like a bank) that I need my G300 back for to use.

Does anyone have any suggestions what I can do next to try and get a working phone back e.g names of management there to pester, consumer rights etc, as I just get the call centre and call centre supervisors fobbing me off despite saying my phone is escalated and will be with me within days each time I ring.

Thanks for any help as they are really a hassle at the mo!!!!!

I thought I would resurrect this thread

I've had my g300 for something like 18+months now, am starting to notice that the battery life is beginning to reduce and its beginning to show signs of limited life . I am not using it any differently to when it was in its early days- usage or app wise.

As I bought it with nectar points and a couple of £, I feel Its time for an upgrade. As I cant be bothered to return it to Huawei or Sainsburys. I feel like its served me well enough

What's the best budget smartphone to go for on todays market?
What's all the old g300-ites using today

I'm on virgin sim only deal and even though they don't have many fans on MSE- so far its suits me well, so would want to stay with them.

    thank you MSErs
