Anyone know the setting so that when someone calls you, the phone speaks their name.

    Thank you

Think you need an apps for that, search play store with 'talking caller id' and you will find loads.
  • Thank you sillygoose.

Some of the guys at work said they didn't have an app on their android phones but they must have.

Maybe some of their phones have 'factory' apps already so they didn't install them :)

I want to set up APN settings on the G300 for Ovivo.

This seems to cover it http://ovivomobile.com/set-up-guide-for-android/ but because the monthly allowance is quite low I want to ensure internet usage outside the house is kept to a minimum.

Am I right in thinking that the settings should work without any MMS settings? I understand MMS can rack up high charges!

Has anyone got any other tips on keeping outside internet usage low?

I heard a few scare stories on here about mobile bills that sorta 'got away' and so I was also wondering whether the service provider can add voluntary caps to usage (e.g. turn off my data once I used my monthly allowance) - it appear that some do and some dont you would have to call and find out

but I did find a setting on the phone itself where you can cap your own usage 'monthly' - although it doesn't differentiate between free wi-fi and 3G, better safe than a £500 bill

I notice MMS are not included in my freebies (minutes, texts and data) and usually cost around 50p each so i tend to send pictures and stuff by emails instead (free data) - all my friends have email on their mobile anyhow

I've had my £10 month contract since last August ish (and sold the HTC they gave me for £110 and bought my G300 for £70 = £40 profit :)) and never paid more than £10 each month, and surprised myself how little of my allowance I use considering my phone is never idle and I use it for everything including Sat navigation
When will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?

Ovivo is free after you have paid the initial £10.

Trouble is you only get 100mins, 100texts and 400mb data a month. I want to ensure I don't go over the 400mb a month. The calls and texts are easy to control. You can check your usage online so I will check every few days to see how I am doing.

Thats a good deal - I only get 500mb month and I've set my phone data limit to 490 mb (which includes free Wifi data usage) and still never use it all - so I dont know what the phone does when you reach your limit but i expect some sort of message

You can set maximum data usage with the phone to 400mb so you'll never get any nasty bills - you can even set day of the month to run from/to (align it with your contract dates)

  • I use CPWs Bill Angel - it alerts you once you have used up 90% of your allowance and again when you are 100% used up.

I see you can now get a nearly new version for £80 direct from Vodafone http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/huawei-ascend-g-300-vodafone-nearly-new-open-box-80-1469042
