lilibet - as a piece of well meaning advice; no forum operates well with self-appointed standards police. If something offends you personally then you should go ahead and report it, but reporting things because you're worried the content may upset others....especially when you've stated you have absolutely no interest in the topic....is essentially just attempts at censorship because you're got time on your hands and isn't terribly mature IMO.“Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. You'll mess it up, it's potential, leave it. Anyway, it's like your bank balance - you always have a lot less than you think.”

Please don't let Lilibet1 derail the thread, that will get it locked as she wants. Most people on both sides of the discussion are sticking to the topic matter and not throwing personal insults. How does an 'enforced' approach to any area of sexual and reproductive health fit into a viewpoint of 'pro-choice'?
Depends what you imagine I mean by identifying with pro-choice. I largely support the legislation as it stands: not abortion on demand but abortion where there is a physical or mental risk. I am also very outspoken on the issue of people taking personal responsibility for their own health and wellbeing by adhering to healthy living guidance.
With that in mind why should anyone under the age of 24 who is not in a stable relationship/ trying for a baby and not celibate not be using contraception? They should be using a barrier method to protect themselves from STDs, that is already part of the sexual health guidelines. The smoking legislation was designed to protect people from having others unhealthy choices inflicted upon them, reduce the burden on the NHS and make smoking less socially acceptable, widespread contraception with an opt out clause could be seen as along the same lines.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
Contraception with an opt out clause is but a very small step away from full blown euginics. Something that's never been too popular in the UK and as a policy was 100% unsuccessful in Germany..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 -

Right, so if something offends someone personally it's fine for them to report it, but if they are actually being altruistic/compassionate by sticking up for someone else in reporting something, that's a failing?? Strange logic!! :rotfl::rotfl:*Look for advice, not 'advise'*

I do, but that doesn't prevent me being raped, and I can't exactly say to the rapist "can you just put a condom on please?". There are many many people who have posted on this who would consider me a murderer if I was raped and then had an abortion.likelyfran wrote: »Let's hope you use plenty of contraception then.0 -
You would think if they can send men to the moon they could manufacture a contraceptive that was 100% (that didnt involve abstenence or removing the ovaries/testicles).This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

"when are you going to settle down and have children?" "don't you feel your biological clock ticking?" "don't leave it too late" "how many children are you planning to have?" "I bet holding my baby is making you feel broody" etc. Questions such as these are not uncommon, as a childless woman. What century do you think we are living in? Has anyone ever said that to you?
The default view of some people is woman = baby machine.0
