Got the bloomin' engineer in now.... Not meaning to sound racist but I'm fed up with saying 'pardon' every time he says something ! Swear he doesn't understand me either. He's put the external cable just where I didn't want it arrrgghhh. And what's with the big BLACK V+ box ? I want a nice silver one like my old basic :(

    Mumble grumble :D

The ON demand service and Virgin Central are free anyway on all TV packages and the TV M pack is free with the phone anyway.
But it still worth giving them a ring to see what you can get. Make sure you speak to RETENTIONS dept. and NOT customer services as they have the clout to give you a better deal.
  • The on demand service is free i know, but the TV choice section isn't. This has entire series of various tv shows.
  • Howdy. After the Sky One debacle, they automatically gave us the More on Demand thing (normally £5 p/m) for free (we're on 3 for £30 BTW). Anyhoo, it stopped yesterday so I rang Virgin to say that I'd only put off leaving them, to follow Lost and The Simpsons to Sky, becaused of the extra free feature. They immediately gave it back for free for 12 months and upgraded us to the XL package, also for free for 12 months. The fella said that Lost was coming to Virgin in the summer, so I said "What about the Simpsons then?" which swung it.
Thanks God for Homer et al.

It seems Virgin Central and TV Choice on demand are NOT free on all TV packages. Like Sutton Chris, (who posted above) we have also just lost access to both. Every time we try to access TV Choice on demand it says we are not subscribed. And Virgin Central just doesn't work at all, no message or anything. We are on the L tv package.

We also had a letter from Virgin today saying that if you want both Virgin Central and TV Choice, you have to take the XL tv pack. If you don't want XL, you can have TV choice on your current pack for an extra £5 per month, but not Virgin Central. I'm really annoyed, as when it was NTL I'm sure we were getting all the On Demand stuff included in our pack price. I'm going to ring when they open, have a moan about it & see if we can get a better deal.

Just spoke to virgin retentions, said I wasn't happy that I was having to pay extra for TV choice & the lady offered me a free upgrade (ongoing) to XL tv package. This means I will get both TV choice & Virgin central plus the extra programmes in the Xl package for the same price as I'm paying now...it would normally cost an extra £9 per month.

Decided to go with this as happy enough with my broadband & already have discount on my phone service, it was just the TV I wasn't happy with.

Definitely worth it for existing customers to phone & see what they are offered. I didn't even say I was thinking of leaving, I just went through to retentions & politely explained why I wasn't happy with my TV package.

Phoned retentions today. All I was offered was the 3 for £30 or the 2 for £20 exactly as shown on the website.

The 3 for £30 is TV size XL, phone size M and broadband size M. Although I will be saving overall if I go for this (mainly as I would be switching my internet to Virgin) others seem to have got better deals if you go by the threads on this site.

Do you think Virgin are toughening up now on what they will offer to retain customers?

I agree Mrs Scrooge. I've finally lost patience with Virgin, I phoned them yesterday and the Retentions Department seemed quite under whelmed by my threat to quit.

Over the weekend they did some kind of download to update the box from NTL to Virgin as a result I've lost a lot of the back catalogue stuff from the On Demand service as I only have TV size L and no phone line. I've been with NTL for years and never had a problem up until the last few months, the service is now disgraceful.
