I gave them a call just before Sky cut the channels off and was able to get

    XL TV
    Talk Anytime 400
    L Internet
    V+
    V box

    for £56 a month.

Just be warned that when you get your first bill it will be double what you agreed on the phone. They take the month and then a month in advanced.

    Hi guys ,
    i've got from Vergin media:

    TV (L)
    Phone (M)
    Broadband (M)

all for £20 per months + £25 for installation charge

I agreed a package with retentions last month for

    Broadband XL free
TV XL + Sky Sports £37

I got them to confirm it by email.

First bill since arrived today - £95.47. I've just phoned CS and they best they can offer is £30 off my current bill and £55 ongoing.

I have replied to the email I got from retentions and if they don't sort it I will be switching to Sky.

It's taken me a while to sort this but here goes !

I think I'm paying out WAY over the top here ( and that doesn't include the £34.00 worth of overcharges on my previous 3 bills that I have just managed to reclaim !! )

    I'm currently with Virgin on
    • TV: XL @ £20.50
    • Broadband: M @ £18.00
    • Phone: Line rental + Talk Unlimited @ £11.00 + £9.95
    • Mobile: 300 Mins, 300 Txts @ £10.00
    • No extras
Total cost per month: £69.45 !!!

Have been a customer for years and years. No fixed contracts.

I guess I would need to stick with XL TV as the kids would like to keep Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon ? Is there a cheaper alternative way to get these chanels ?

Broadband M is fine really, though would accept anything more for free ! I need to stick with VM for this as my business relies a lot on emails and I couldn't afford to be without them whilst changing provider. Unless there is a simple way to do this ?

I don't need Talk Unlimited as I can use the mobile.

I would like to keep the mobile but appreciate that there are other ways of achieving this at a cheaper cost ?

Any extras that can be trown in for a good price would be good ;)

    Please help !!!

I have spent 20 minutes on the phone with Virgin Media today as they seem to have just undone all the discounts I had negotiated with NTL before they switched over. I have been a customer for about 9 years. Currently I pay:

    TV Family Pack £20.50
    Sports and Movies £23.50
    Setatnta £15
    Line Rental £11
    4 (8?)M broadband £25
    Talk Unlimited £16

I get a discount of £11 for all three services with them, and he grudingly gave me a further discount of £10.25 for 6 months

I think my total bill is now going to be about £89.75, which seems extortionate to me!

Can anyone let me know what they think and ideas/suggestions for how to barter this down?

    Many thanks

Veruccasalt - did you speak to RETENTIONS to get the deal or was it with customer services (who do not have the authourity to give decent discounts )
As for my account deal i went through retentions and i am paying alot less than you are as i stated earlier in this thread :-

''' I phoned Virgin Media today just for a change to get another deal deal at of them.
    I ended up getting :-
10mb broadband for only £17.50 a month on a 3 month deal, but phone and renew every 3 months (on a seperate bill )

    TV XL package
V+ box (already have old box in bedroom)
    Line rental
    Talk unlimited
    Sky sports
    Sky movies

all for an outstanding price of £41.45 a month for EVER !!!!!!! '''''

I have just had the first bill since this deal and it is as stated.
The only difference is the broadband has gone up by £1 a month - but it has now gone upto 20mb speed so cant complain.

HANG ON?!!? You are getting broadband 10MB and all the rest of the tv/phone packages for £41.45 PLUS £17.50= £58.95

or are you getting all of that for £41.45???

The broadband is on a completely seperate account -£18.50 a month (gone up by £1 this month) for 20mb, all the rest for £41.45

    £18.50 +£41.45 = £59.95 a month for all

I hope this clears up any confusion

When you speak to retentions, do you start off by saying you want your subscription cancelled or is this the place you ask for a better deal ?

It all depends on how many services you have with them - i have everything with them.
At the time I said that i was thinking of moving to SKY and what deal could they offer and try not to accept there first offer and say 'surely you can better that' . I cant guarantee this will work but it did for me.
Also dont tell them ,try and be friendly - this way you will get a better deal- usually anyway.
You can also say that your friend has a good deal and quote a deal from this thread and see what they say.
I hope this works . by the way be prepared to wait on the phone- i had to wait about 20 minutes , but it was worth it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
