please stop all this nonsense, you have never had a job, how can you talk about unemployment. You have not appplied for nearly enough jobs to even stand a chance, I doubt you will hear about this job, you may not even get a rejection letter, such is the way of the world now. If you get our backs up about this, imagine what an employer would feel like, I certainly wouldnt employ you.:wall:Crazy Nutters Club Member 003 :wall:0

I am more suited for this job than any I have seen to date. There is no point applying for tons of jobs when I do not even want to do them, is there? I might as well stick to a smaller number of applications for jobs I really want.
Other people can get high powered jobs so there is no reason why I can not get a job far less than that.:beer:0 -
A university has to be my best shot at a job because I know nothing about business or the private sector so my chances of a job would be zero there. At least with universities I have a good idea what they are about.:beer:0

oh my god, virtually all the people I know did not cherry pick their job, most dont even like their jobs, but its a job, it pays the bills...phil you are such a weird individual, I have never known anyone to be SO narrow minded and out of touch with anything tangiable in "real life":wall:Crazy Nutters Club Member 003 :wall:0

To be fair, its nice working for a uni. Pay rises every year (within pay scale), good holidays (I was on 32 days a year in Cardiff), good pension, low demands and pressures. It's quite chilled out really.
The pay isn't great, cos its the public sector. You will never earn a great deal of money unless you get into management there. They also like to employ people on 2 - 3 year contracts; that's not so nice if you've got a mortgage.
Phil, apply for jobs EVERYWHERE - don't limit yourself to where you want to work.0 -

What is the point in getting a job I hate?
I am not going to like it, it is going to make me more unhappy, I am not going to do my best at it.
What is weird about wanting a job I would enjoy and can do well at?:beer:0 -
I have quickly flicked through these posts, so forgive me if I missed something glaringly obvious, but; do you have a job Phil?
Do you really want a job? If you want a job, why not get any kind of job, you are much more likely to be offered other jobs if you show you are willing to work now.
I worked in a pie factory and did bar work, whilst I was looking for jobs, and I have 2 degrees.
These days it's not always a case of being qualified, but showing you can do the job, and that starts by showing you are willing to do A job.
I'm sure though looking for a job you should be applying all the time, and signing up to 2 agencies and only sending out 3 letters in one night hardly seems like you really want a job.
I don't mean to sound harsh, I just wanted to put my opinion across.A man never needs to ask for directions, we always get to where we intended to go, and at exactly the time expected. :T0 -
what you want and what you get in life are 2 different things.
How do you kNOW you wont like working somehwere till you try it?

It is true that universities are not the best for a lot of things and the worst is that they are hierarchical and I know that if you do not have many higher level qualifactions that your input and promotion chances are limited.
However, I can get to the universities in my area easily (that to me is important) and I do know the sector whereas any other sector I would have no idea and so would stand zero chance at a job. Plus, universities work is important and useful sometimes.
Those are my main reasons for wanting a university job.:beer:0 -
He doesnt want a "job" he wants to stay in uni, but be paid for it...seems like your not fit to be meployed if your so fussy!
Every job in the world is important you fool....:wall:Crazy Nutters Club Member 003 :wall:0
