Job hunting

It doesn't work like that.
If you were the only applicant for a job, but didn't convince them that you could do it, they still wouldn't appoint you.
Similarly, if 100 people apply, and you're the best candidate, you'll get it!
See???
I do understand that, but I am just concerned that the more people the more likely someone is to come across better than me.
It is frustrating because I know I could start that job tomorrow at do it well, but will they see that.:beer:0 -

I have read up on all the software they use( not that I have been able to find much) but I am sure I can pick it up quickly. Read up on the department and all the schemes the job would involve running.
Thought of some questions to ask at interview:beer:0 -

Nothing is certain with these things - we've had people at work on temporary promotion for up to a year that didn't get their own jobs when they applied for them.
There is always the risk that someone else will interview better than you - all you can do is minimise that risk.:A MSE's turbo-charged CurlyWurlyGirly:AThinks Naughty Things Too Much Clique Member No 3, 4 & 5

Aren't they using competency based interviewing?:A MSE's turbo-charged CurlyWurlyGirly:AThinks Naughty Things Too Much Clique Member No 3, 4 & 5

Who knows what sort of method they are using.:beer:0 -

Uh oh - you really need to know that. If you go in all guns blazing on software and they don't ask you about it = disaster.
Can you PM me a link to the info they gave in the application pack and I'll have a look?:A MSE's turbo-charged CurlyWurlyGirly:AThinks Naughty Things Too Much Clique Member No 3, 4 & 5

Damn phil, you've gotta take a different viewpoint to job hunting. It took 3 me 3 months of applying for jobs after graduating before I even got an interview. You can't pin your hopes on one job advert - keep applying and applying.
If you are desperate to work in a uni, go here https://www.jobs.ac.uk.
Personally I think you should look more at https://www.prospects.ac.uk (I actually just found a job I just applied for, Analyst Programmer in The City)0
