Spill the beans... on how to minimise loo paper use

No hope of having bidets installed in most houses of the future, with more new houses being crammed onto smaller sites. Some properties now only have shower cubicles as the bathrooms aren't big enough for a bath !0

Trying to cut down and not be so wasteful. (Use a roll a day)!
Using a baby wipe helps. Don't put it down the toilet though as it will block your loo. Stick it in your bathroom bin tie it up and bin it!
One wipe with toilet paper, clean with a baby wipe and toilet paper dry! (For the twos)...
Yuk what a subject!:rotfl:0 -
Got a Home Bargains near you? Try their Cosy Soft...18 rolls for £3.49 - excellent!
By the way, imho nobody in the Forum needs a lecture on hygiene...only tips on how to save money!0 -
Quite bluntly the best solution is to keep a plastic bottle in the toilet, fill it with water and wash yourself after performing. You do this by gently pouring water over your backside (whilst still sitting and washing yourself with your other hand. You then use just a few sheets of paper to dry yourself. You will find your hand is quite clean, but obviously you wash it again with soap. You will also find you feel much cleaner in the area you have just used.
You use more water, but this can be recycled. Many people will be saying 'YUK' after reading this but it is the best and cleanest solution.0 -
As someone who really has to watch the pennies, I have tried all sorts of ways to economise on toilet roll, which after all, I am only going to throw away after use.... I have found that you seem to have to use reams of the cheap stuff that they put in village hall loo's etc., and that you put your fingers through a lot of own brand or cheaper brands once they are wet, so I have optimised my savings by buying Gorgeous Comfort Quilts when they are on a really good deal somewhere, (so keeping my eyes open before I need to restock), because one sheet does for a Number One, and two sheets for a Number Two!!0

Perhaps the answer is to have two loo roll holders fixed to the wall - one for cheap loo paper and one for the quality stuff. Then use a combination of the two rolls which plays to the strength (or weakness) of them both.0

Keep your eye on LIDL for 24 Cushelle for £7-ish. Work out just about 30p a roll. Also, whatever number of sheets you choose to use, you can halve this by tearing them into 1s and layering them in opposite directions on top of one another. Re wet wipes, 99p shops do packs of 90 flushable in the baby section, if you don't mind a Moshi Monsters pack. 2 sheets of Cushelle used as suggested, plus one wipe, and you're there!0

This ^^^^ is all I'm bothered about when it comes to loo roll!!!!!!!!
Agreed!0 -
I am another who thinks that the only way to really clean yourself after going to the loo, is with water. I feel a ot more comfortable when I am abroad, and the hotel/places where I am staying have a bidet or an alternative such as a shattaf or aftebe arrangement.
I am considering having one fitted in our bathroom at home.0 -

Then buy two 9-packs to get 18 rolls for £3.98 and save another penny!0
