OMG cant believe that you begrudge some one a few grapes especial from some one like MR T OR MR A they charge you a fortune for grapes.

The OP said the grapes were taken out of pre-packed bags, so they are stealing them from the customer who buys the bag, not the supermarket.

Its not just grapes I have seen customers eat without paying. Here are some food I have seen customers do the same as the grapes:
. Multipack crisps - take one packet and leaving the bag minus one bag on the shelf
. Chicken pieces from the hot chicken counter. Seen the bag with the bones thrown on the shelves
. Pick n mix (I have been guilty of this many years ago) - fill the cup and eat a handful of sweets around the store

We do get customers at work that eat/drink around the store and hand me the wrapper or bottle to scan. If they have consumed the whole thing, I bin the packaging. If not, just hand back to the customer.

Ugh the worst thing is when we're filling the shelves at night and you find chicken bones and stuff that have been chucked in the shelves when they've eaten them! I don't want to touch something some stranger has had in their mouth. Oh and the people that take a twinpack of dummies, shove one in the kids mouth and chuck the pack back on a shelf. That bugs me too!

When I used to stack shelves we often used to find empty refill boxes for plug-in air fresheners. Why risk getting caught stealing because you want your house to smell nice! I don't mean it's okay to steal other things, but come on, an air freshener refill?!

We also used to find bottles of alcohol hidden at the back of the bottom shelves of nappies. Shoplifters knew that there would be staff looking out for people pinching stuff from the drinks aisles, so they would take a bottle and dump it in amongst the baby things, so they could come back for it later.

if they are bags that are weighted then you will only get charged for whats in bag

It really annoys me when parents with pushchairs put their shopping in the tray, on top of the hood etc before paying. Lately I have seen elderly customers putting things in their shoppers before paying, As they will forget to get that beer, steak out to scan.

    Use a basket!

The other week, a young woman (about 23) went through the self scan I was on. She had two packs of nappies on the pushchair - one over each handle and didn't scan them. I said to her 'you forgot the nappies' and she said 'I bought them in Boots'.

The thing was these nappies were our own brand ones and could not possibly bought them from Boots. If I wasn't that observant - she could have walked off with £12 of nappies unpaid for

From what I am reading, these grapes are loose but placed in bags with various weights with no weight on them and get charged by weight. All the supermarkets punnets of grapes sealed up in cellophane -normally 500g.

My last pram had a full handle so it was impossible to put a basket on it and it also had a mind of it's own, if i pushed it with one hand it's likely to vere off into someone, saying that the top was curved so if i had any shopping i put it in the basket underneath.

I posted before and caused a huge a row but i eat grapes and i left my kids eat (amount other things) while shopping however for that reason i buy priced packs rather than loose, value grapes are cheaper anyway :)

Well I can't see how you can read it like that, try reading it again.

So when i go to get a bag of grapes the weight is always shorter than stated on the bag because some greedy person has eaten them . Rant over goodbye.

I don't know about other supermarkets, but my local M and T have grapes in open topped bags with the weight, variety etc. printed on the label. The barcode on the label then gets scanned at the till.

I'm also pretty sure it is against the law to sell pre-bagged fruit and veg without the weight/unit and price on it, or displaying the price you will pay next to them if they are all the same price.
