OS Daily - April fool's day 01/04/2007

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sunday 1st April. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
everyone.
I hope today finds you well.
The first order of the day is to thank you all for your lovely pm's and together with some wise words from pink I feel that I am silly to cut off my nose to spite my face;), and as I have missed you guys and my daily time out to read about your days and fill you in with mine - so I am afraid you are stuck with me for the forseeable.
I have been to bed and slept for an hour and a half but am now awake and twidling my thumbs - so here I am.
This last week OH has been quite poorly which culminated in me having to do another 999 Friday morning and so he is back in coronary care. The docs are fairly concerned at the mo as they have no real idea what is causing these arrythmias with OH and are going to transfer him to the Manchester Royal next week if they can get a bed for him. In addition to his heart his blood sugars are up the wall at the mo, and he is being tested after everything he eats and drinks. Also his BP is very low, which I believe is cap in hand with everything else that is going on.
In the meantime I am stuck here with 3 LO's and fairly limited transport to the hosi to see him, (the nurses recognise my voice when I phone though!) LOL It's like the hot line to the Kremlin.
My spring cleaning has come to a halt but the house is clean and tidy and all the ironing up to date. Mr T's delivered a big shop today so I needn't worry about milk and bread for a week (thank goodness for freezers), the children and I have also cleaned the front garden today.
I have pulled some chicken thighs out of the freezer to sling in the SC tomorrow am with some veg to make a casserole as I have a lift to the hosi tomorrow morning, this will replace the usual Sunday roast that we have.
My work have again been brilliant allowing me the time off that I need, but on Mon. I need to phone the education department and move the kids to a school nearer to us as at the mo as it takes two hours either end of the day to fetch them and is costing us £12 per day in bus fares. Not very OS!!!!!
Hugs to any one who needs one today.
Well I'm off to make an Horlicks and see if that will help me nod off again.
Take care everyone,
Smoky.xxxxxx

Hi smoky,
I shouldn't really be here because I haven't been to bed yet, but just wanted to post and say that we've missed you and it's really great to see you back! I hope dh is feeling better and will be home soon. Don't forget to look after yourself as well as him and the children.
Enjoy your horlicks and 'see' you in the morning.

Good to see you back Smoky.
I have been to bed but haven't been able to sleep cos DS got back from his long drive from uni and thn went out to meet friends and still isn't back. I know I'm being stupid because I've no idea what times he gets in from when he's away but I can't help worrying.0 -
Hi Smoky :wave: I am so glad you're back!
How terribly worrying about your OH, I can't even begin to understand what it must be like for you, and for him of course. Miracles can be worked with modern medicine, and I'm sure they will get to the bottom of the underlying problem. He's in the right place and getting the attention he needs and deserves. Good luck with getting your children's schools sorted out - £12 per day on fares = an awful lot of money, so can understand why it's high priority.
I haven't been to my bed yet (not my lovely new bed, just the old one as the new one isn't properly assembled yet, lol). However my two kitties are currently snuggled up together in a big circle. I think it's love, but as they are boys, could it be that they are homosexual?? Ha ha, I don't care if they are, they are happy and content, so what difference does it make!
My plans for this Sunday are a bit of cleaning, a bit of walking, a bit of cooking, a bit of reading, a bit of sitting around... OK, so no real plans, I will just do whatever the mood takes me. If it doesn't get cleaned today, it will get cleaned tomorrow!
Have a lovely Sunday everyone.

Morning from someone who has been to bed, unlike all you cheaters.......
back to work day 2pm. I will hopefully sneak off at 4 to go to my mother's for Sunday lunch...:D keeping in touch by mobile if needed....
Had great fun at Sainsbury yesterday...Not. I worked out a scam to get 20 bottles of free wine. It did not work quite as planned though.
I figured that 20 bottles up to £4 each ..Minus the 25% discount for 6 bottles or more, plus a voucher I have for £4 off, minus 10% daughter's staff discount = £35 ish. Just what I have in nectar points. But apparently I could not redeem the points at the Sainsbury I was shopping at, because I had not used the Nectar card there before.... How stupid! So sorry if you work there and found a trolley load of goods left behind... Blame nectar
I will try again today in another store seeing as it's the last day to use the 25% deal.NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -

Good Morning Od Stylers!
Our concert last night was a triumph, and I've woken up early full of the joys of Spring! Went to the pub afterwards, with the conductor and his partner, and other friends, and didn't leave until after midnight:eek: , so another self-inflicted short-sleep night.
The sun is shining, so we're having a cup of tea in bed with the papers, then out into the garden. The seeds are all popping up, but so are the weeds  We're going to get opur potatoes in outside, and try and do some more on clearing our boundary for our new fence. Will finish the day with a bonfire, while DH cooks a pot-roast brisket.
DD has been planning how to fool her brother. Pretty sure she'll succeed - she has a particular charming streak of low cunning
The small Penguins put the trampoline together yesterday while DH owed the lawn. We'll now have lots of their friends round (which I enjoy) so have stocked the freezer with *value* lollies and choc ices, and will make sure that there's plenty of HM buns. DS, however, has a friend who'll settle for nothing less than a Magnum and a can. He'll have to whistle, won't he?
Welcome back to Smoky - take care of yourself.
N9eav - that maths is making my head spin at this time of day!
Kyle, hope your DS is better soon.
Have a fab day, Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -

Hi
We have a nice day planned today.
My husband is downstairs getting breakfast for my DD's (3, nearly 4 year old twin girls), while I read some threads on OS and do some ebay.
At lunchtime we are taking the girls to a friend's (2nd cousin) 4th birthday party, which should be fun.
I am really pleased that I posted my meal plans on Friday on here, because I have printed it off and making sure we stick to it. Tonight we are having savoury bread and butter pudding and salad. I can't believe I have even managed to plan the following weeks as well (something seems to have clicked with meal planning!)
Have a good day everyone
