Any supplier info you have would be great. Neither of us live in Wales anymore - my other-half is in Germany at the moment, although from Ferndale, so I'm think we need to plan everything better as we can't be there to meet with people all the time. He's also in the army, so we're still not 100% sure when we can actually get married!
OMG Im originally from a town called Wattstown which is a stone throw away from Ferndale!! Only 4 -5 miles away!! How mad:j:jGetting Married 28th August 2010 :T:T0 -

I live in Sheffield, and my parents North London, and I travel between the two often. I am around a size 18 in bridal gowns. Im hoping someone could give me some advice as Im losing all confidence with it now. Every shop I have set foot in has been either really rude and/or have tiny samples. I have been left in my underwear on the shop floor in some cases! I have been sneered at by moody shop assistants who cant be bothered to even try to help me into dresses, some just held dresses against me or put the dress on and left it gaping at the back!
Am I the only one who is really frustrated with stroppy shop assistants/owners?!
Sorry not really a money saving question but is driving me nuts!!
Thanks in advance x
Hiya,
There is a shop in Hornchurch essex not that far from north london called house of couture and it does big sizes, alot bigger than what u are looking for. They also have a branch in Brentwood which again stocks even more styes.
Also there is a shop in romford can't think of the name of it (in the market) and they cater for the larger bride too.
When u visit family in North london you could do all three easily in a day if you drive.
Hope that helps0 -

We got married in 2001 and didn't spend much at all.
Top tip: use the skills and talents of your friends and family. They'll love to be involved in making your day so special...
> Print your own invites/orders of service/place-settings etc and invite friends around for an evening to help fold and glue. Our invites were printed postcards (done in a high street printers) paid for as a wedding gift from the design agency my husband works for.
> Look at flower markets for flowers - maybe a friend had a saturday job in a florist (like my bridesmaid did!) - we made everything ourselves and the flowers cost less than £100.
> Have a small cake for display and cutting (maybe just one tier), but then have a plain iced one out out the back to supplement when handing out to guests. Find out if you've got a friend who does this as a hobby - my mum did mine and roped in her class teacher and other students to help!
> Pub function rooms can be good value - we used one and although the food was simple no-one went hungry.
> Have a make-up lesson beforehand and do your own make-up. Some department store concessions run them and it's a skill you'll keep.
Work out what you want to pay for and what you're prepared to compromise on.
Family paid for some things rather than a gift (e.g. my wedding car paid for by my uncle). We paid out a fair amount on our photographer and then used the money we'd saved on everything else to pay for a fab honeymoon.0 -

So in the afternoon, as late as possible, we will get married at the hotel and only pay the registrar for the ceremony. Drinks and canapes afterwards. Then on the evening we are having a hot and cold buffet and a disco. It will come in just under a grand!!
We are going to have a red and white theme. All dresses will be from Landy, I think I have already found the ideal ones lol!! Mens suits from Asda and thinking about hiring waistcoats and cravats but not sure yet.
We aren't having cars, silk flowers either from ebay or homemade. Balloons and diamante on the tables with cheap pillar candles which I am going to decorate with a piece of burgundy ribbon and a diamante pin. Possible some little battery operated fairy lights aswell but only if I can find cheap ones.
Have just ordered the invitation bits I need from Ebay, homemade again, and it has come to a grand total of 10 pounds!!
The cake is going to be chocolate and lemon cupcakes with a small tier on the top from m and s, again homemade, but shouldn't be too difficult as I bake a lot anyway.
So with a budget of 2 grand I think we are getting there. Oh and I forgot to add we are having 50 guests for the buffet and 22 for the ceremony as we just want an intimate do with the people we care about.
Good luck to all those planning aswell!! Tiger x
Where did you find cheap pillar candles?A big thank you to all those who post on the forum and make it a worthwhile place!!!:j0
