  • Can anyone recommend a photographer in the South Wales area? I'm getting married on September 22nd this year. My budget is up to £1000. Most of ones I've looked at so far have either been too expensive or booked already.

    Thanks,
    James

    Have you tried https://www.blessingphotography.com ?

We've booked with them, they are extremely reasonably priced and break everything down for you so you can completely tailor the package to suit yourself and only pay for what you want. They work nationwide I think, you just pay a fee depending on how far away you are from them, but again this is all broken down and you can see where the charges are coming from.

We are using this guy, very resonably priced and he is a nice guy as well no harm in asking him how much he would charge you. The website is

  • Does any one know where I can get some party invites? I am getting married abroad in St Lucia Sep 2007 and am having a party back here afterwards and am after some beach or tropical looking party invites.
I have looked on the web but haven't come across anything suitable

I know my sister had the exact same problem!! She did manage to get hers from the web and it was a black & white photo of a bride and groom walking along a tropical beach. I have just phoned her and she can't remember the name of the website, however i have just searched in google and this one came up http://www.weddinginvitationuk.co.uk/ProductList.aspx?Cat=10

I will keep looking to see if i can find the one my sis had, she also paid £90 for 80 invites.

  • Hi,

I'm getting married in September this year and attempting to do it on a £5k budget - most people are sceptical but I reckon we can do it!

We're having the wedding near Skipton in North Yorkshire and would love to hear from anyone who can recommend contacts for any of the following:

    - Chair covers hire - I know this sounds like an extravagance but our reception venue has got a red carpet and bright blue chairs so I'm looking for a cheap option to cover them up!

    - Harpist to play in the church

    - Anywhere to buy cheap materials for making invitations (I live in Birmingham so could get to anywhere in that area of up in North Yorks)

    - Florists that are reasonable priced

    - Recommendations for wedding dress shops in the Skipton area (Ilkley, Harrogate etc)

Look forward to hearing from you!

    Thanks,
    Mrs Robinson (to be!)

I have no idea of where Skipton is in relation to Manchester but have a look at this website, some lovely chair covers here along with favours, table decorations and cakes. New website so still under some construction :)

  • Hi All,

I got married August 2004 and want to share a a couple of money saving tip with you

    1. flowers - cost a fortune!

I married a farmer so a venue was not a problem as we had marquees in one of his farther's field, super location. But as noting is done 'small' in this small community where you know everybody we had 200 guests so needed the space. I had a vision of tonnes of flowers and lavish decorations in boh the church and in the main marquee. We know a florist, which helps, so we got 10% discount. but more importantly we supplied all of the greenery ourselves, which meant that I could get the lavish arrangements I wanted but for half the price. Beware, if you are looking a many or large arrangements the cost of the greenery can often be more than the flowers. this is direct from our friend, the good florist.

    2. kids activities. - keep them happy = keep the parents happy

really simple. we spoke to a young couple we know and who like kids. She works in a nursery. We asked if they would run the kids' marquee which we would furnish with little table and chairs (borrowed from our church's sunday school), games, balloons, cushions, sweets etc. The parents were happy in the knowledge that their kids were safely playing under supervision in their own marqee.

    3. late night snack - simple and cheap.

We got a lot of thumbs up because we had arranged for bacon butties as a late night snack instead of another buffet. cheap and cheerful and went down a storm!

    Good luck all

    Hi Ms Thrift

My tip for flowers is to agree a budget & brief idea of what you require for you & bridesmaids (if you have them) & how many button holes, I felt my florist was trying to con me when she said the price she quoted me was for a 5' 2 bride & she didn't realise I was so tall, the price of my bouquet went up £50! I challenged it & she stuck to the original price, when confirming the details I asked for the roses I wanted (sh ehad originally said they were too expensive) & got everything I had originally wanted for less than florist had previously said, I think they try to get you to agree to a larger budget but make sure you know how much they are charing per button hole etc, when it gets broken down the price seems to lower.

I got married on a Tuesday (as a true money saver, also got a reduced price for the hotel as we were booking so many rooms for people to stay)

I can vouch for Debenhams dresses too!

I trust all money savers are invited (we don't bring presents though - just tips!)

If I think of anything else I will return, I wish you the very best of luck with all your plans
