  • Hi guys!

Wondering if I could pick your brains...

We're getting married this year, hopefully in the summer. However nothing is booked yet! It will just be the two of us, and two friends as witnesses, and we'll probably do it on a week day. I'm looking for a romantic venue (not church), where we won't feel dwarfed with such a small amount of people, ideally around the Snowdonia region in Wales. Lots of venues seem to have a minimum number of people though... we just want a small romantic ceremony then dinner in their restaurant afterwards. As with everyone money is an issue!

    Any ideas anyone?

    Hi Freckles,

Registry offices very so much from town to town, some are ugly modern buidings others beautiful old ones near pretty gardens...maybe look at all the ones in your county to see if they are what you would like?

For your reception it may be better for you to rent out a room or hall somewhere and pay for your own catering using a private catering company. maybe nice village halls etc are a starting point?
Yesterday is today's memories, tomorrow is today's dreams :)

I know that Meadowhall (Sheffield), Newcastle & Manchester will be stocking the Bridal range. The lady in Meadowhall said they will have it in store around mid March time

    Evening ladies.
I am a wedding photographer and can i say to all of you TAKE OUT WEDDING INSURANCE.
I have just had one of my clients aring me and cancel and she did not have insurnce and hence has lost everything that she and her ex paid so far.

I have few cancellations but soo often it is with tose who have no insurance. It does not just cover the worst case (split up) but it covers the smaller things going wrong like missing flower pedastals at church or a legal case for a bad supplier.
I got married nearly a year ago myself so i know what its like trying to afford everything but this is not the area to try and cut back on (or the photographer nudge nudge wink wink)
please bear in ind this small but usefull piece of advice.
If anyone is in the bristol area and needs any suppliers than PM me i come accross many of them and am happy to pass numbers on of people who i would be happy to use myself.

I bought my shoes today!! I spent ages struggling to find a nice pair that weren't going to break the bank. I finally found a pair in a dance shop!

They were the price of a regular pair of shoes. Not as cheap as some other MSEers have found I'm sure but they're really nice! So that's somewhere else for your hunting...
Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o :o
  • For a small wedding you will probably find that some places have different size rooms. I'm having a civil ceremony on HMS Warror in Portsmouth, and they are liscened to marry you in either a fairly large bit of the ship, or the small, 'officers cabin'. I can imagine that it would be wonderful for a smaller wedding.

Don't forget that cost wise you have to take in to account that you have to pay a fair bit for the registrar to come out to a lisenced venue (ours is £300+!) and will have to pay to hire the room (although you might get a deal in the week).

    Good luck!

Listening to Chris Evans's radio two drivetime show last night he bought a weddng dress of a jilted bride (he offered her five grand so she threw in the shoes too!)

He's going to hire it out to anyone who's a size 14 and is getting married, he implied that it would be free but I couldn't guarantee it!

Go here for more info or to contact him to get the frock:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/evans/ (at the moment it's mentioned in the more info section but it will probably get deleted from there in time)

Hope that helps someone, I'm definitely not a size fourteen *sigh* and I've already got my frock otherwise I would have enquired!
Comping, freebieing and trying to pay the mortgage off early!
  • Does any one know where I can get some party invites? I am getting married abroad in St Lucia Sep 2007 and am having a party back here afterwards and am after some beach or tropical looking party invites.
I have looked on the web but haven't come across anything suitable
    Love a charity shop bargain
