My fiance and I are getting married in September this year and wanted to get insurance for two main reasons. Firstly we are both self employed and although we would do everything we could not to have to cancel our wedding for work, hoped to find a policy that might cover us should we have to. But most importantly, my fiance's mother is ill with cancer and in the event of her becoming too ill we wanted to be insured if we had to cancel. I have searched the internet and every company I find will not cover if a pre-existing medical condition exists within the wedding party. Is it an impossible quest or does anyone know of a company that might insure us?0

We had our insurance with E&L for our wedding and it cost us £47 and seems to cover every eventuality so it might be worth checking them out. Luckily we didn't have to use it though.Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

I think the fish & chips/bangers & mash is a fab idea. If/when I ever get married, I want a hog roast (plus vegetarian BBQ as OH is veggie) and then a Mr Whippy van...0

We had a table with a basic cold buffet and then had hot lasagne, a huge pot of chilli and loads of garlic bread. It went down a treat!
I think hog roasts are great too, there's plenty of mobile ones around.

Saban wrote:Can anyone suggest good venues for a civil wedding? Me & my partner are not at all religous so dont want to get married in a church. But getting married in a hotel seems soooooo expensive as you have to have everything there ie wedding/meal/reception. Everywhere ive looked seems to be around the £3000-£5000 mark!
Also it makes it hard to money-save as you have to use their catering services and bar. Does any one have any ideas? Im going mad!!!
We're having our reception in the local university, in the Staff Social Centre. Room hire is free, provided that more than £2000 is spent on food and drink on the night. We have to use their caterers and their bar, but the food and drinks are very reasonably priced (student prices), so it shouldn't be too expensive. I know other universities also offer either student halls or conference rooms, so it's definitely worth looking into it. Hope that helps!0 -
ive booked my wedding venue which is at the local reg office, the car which we saved a 1/3 on as we had a leaflet through the door, wedding dress from debenhams sale, mens suits from matalan waist coats and cravats from bhs booked the reception at a sports and social club which was free as mum and dad are members and the club will provide the catering i was gobsmacked by the prices for the food, all the function rooms i looked at wanting £15 per head the social club was £5 per head, disco booked, considering a honeymoon to somerset or devon the sun £9.50 holidays!!! its all about money saving, the only thing left is the rings. i cant wait, cheap and cheerful just what i want!!!always on the lookout for a bargin always better when its free!!:T0
