    Congratulations Mrs no-longer-B!!!!
Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o :o
  • I bought M&S - i had fruit for the base and then madeira for the top two - i did want them sat on top of each other but they weren't quite deep enough to look right so i stuck them on tiers, my sil did it all actually, she got some gold sprinkly sparkly food dust and splattered them with that - it was very plain but looked beautiful. I didn't have a topper, it didn't need one.

£60 - oh and the cake was so lovely, the fuit cake was so moist and probably the nicest fruit cake that i have tasted, i didn't have any of the madeira but i was told that it was also excellent.
  • guinea - i couldn't work out how to get the printer to print on the right side of the card so i just used sheets of quite stiff tracing paper that i bought from a good stationers - it printed really easily and looked really effective when stuck over the cream textured card - i used those stickers that you can get in craft shops, that was the hardest part really sticking them on and getting them all to look straight and so they did take hours but were well worth it. I bought some toppers in gold from hobby craft and used them on the front - really simple but effective, i added one of the gold corners that i'd used to stick on the tracing paper on the back of the envelope to finish it all off. The save the date, invites, thank you's menues and place names cost me no more than £15. I did but the cutter thing but you can borrow one, get one on ebay or sell one on ebay after you have bought it.

Thanks for this info. I am looking to make the save the date cards (fridge magnets), invites, order of service and thank you cards. I have been looking for ideas for printing on to the homemade cards and so your idea sounds good. So you think stiff tracing paper and then did you just stick them in to the cards using pritstick or some other glue?

    Thanks Gxx:coffee:

  • Hi,
My fiance and I are getting married in April, and we don't want to have to spend too much money on wedding photography.
So far, the lowest quote we've got is £545!!!!!!!
Wondering if anyone knows of a photography student who needs to expand their portfolio and would like to take photos at our wedding near Preston? Its a Sunday afternoon, so shouldn't clash with too many social activities!
    Thanks

  • I used a small dab of superglue in each corner but then used the gold sticker things to frame the tracing paper and so covering the glue which did show through the paper - the tracing paper i bought was in a book and it went through my printer really well. The gold stcikers were fiddly 'cause they were a bit lacey. I thought that they might look cheap at first but they looked really lovely - so everything was gold and cream which matched the theme of the wedding -

I used a thicker card for the menues and place cards.

I think that i got the majority of stuff in Hobbycraft.
