Coupon-mad has made enough posts about the blue badge being stated as required on parking signs, with reference to the Equality Act, so if she's reading this I sure she would happily post again to explain.

I am sure coupon can speak for herself , but I don't believe she has said that the blue badge is required on parking signs on private land, the reason is that the scheme does not apply there. The Equality Act applies to everywhere in the UK though, you can be disabled without a bluebadge , but the equality act still applies to you and service providers.

Ticketing someone on private land for being say 10 minutes late if you are disabled can be deemed as not reasonable adjustment, the reason is that it could take longer for a disabled person to go about their business. But how many times do we see unreasonable behaviour from parking companies once they know a person is disabled ? I'll quickly answer, a lot !

Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

I can't believe I just read the entire thread and not one mention of this!
It appears that those who are able, park legitimately using the provided on street parking. No cost (to either the patient or the NHS). So what exactly does Mr Overpaid Chef Executer provide in his Car Park that the Free on street parking does not give?

Probably nothing more than that, the problem with on street parking which is used around such places like hospitals is the disruption it causes to residents. We have not really that problem on the 3 hospitals local to me, but up by the dvla there is huge problems as there is to many cars and not enough spaces, things got in fact worse because of changes they made in the car parks there.

Explain yourself or am I to guess you wish a return to a pre 1948 health care system: Treatment for the rich and charity for the poor?

I've never seen her post that anywhere on here. Can you quote one of these posts for us?

There's a difference between parking in a disabled space in a private car park without displaying a badge and saying "Able bodied and disabled visitors alike, and bearing in mind you can't use the blue badge system on private land, anyone that does is acting illegally."

You can certainly display your badge when parking anywhere, it doesn't make it illegal.

I think you need to read what I actually wrote, not what taffy read it as.
The new thread has seemed to get the correct response.

I like the sign, it works, it keeps non-blue badge holders out of the disabled spaces, and beyond that I don't care if it breaks the equality act.

I've read this again. It still doesn't make sense.

How do you operate it for visitors?
They're the ones that normally fill ours.
Able bodied and disabled visitors alike, and bearing in mind you can't use the blue badge system on private land, anyone that does is acting illegally.

I think I did read what you wrote and quoted appropriately if that was aimed at me :)

It's not illegal to use your bb on private land.

They are not illegally putting up the signs to say disabled parking only.

They just can't enforce it because it's on private land.

What I think you are TRYING to say, but failing miserably, is that if a parking company or landowner tried to enforce an 'offence' of not displaying a blue badge in a disabled bay on private land, then this would be a potential breach of the Equality Act 2010.

    Yes? THAT is correct.

You then go on to say that you don't care if it breaches the Equality Act or not anyway.
