How much would you spend/did you spend on your wedding?

I think our wedding came in around £10k + £4k honeymoon + spends. If £50k to me was easily made ( ie i earned loads more than i do now! ) or i had the house + car i wanted and that £50k was excess spends I would easily have spent that. For my budget, although not ridged I bought exactly everything I wanted. If i'd had the money would maybe had more than one glass of wine at the meal, maybe paid of everyones accomadation etc. To me, i my wedding wouldnt be my priority to spend another £40k on but if the money was flowing im sure i would have no trouble spending it!0

Think we spent under £2k , I never wanted a big or expensive wedding, in fact I'd have been just as happy if it had been even smaller & cheaper! lolA waist is a terrible thing to mind.0

We originally set a budget of £5k which has now increased to just under £5.7k with still a few things I’m hoping we can save on. We have where possible either DIY’d what we (I) can and bought preloved, for example my dress and some of the bridesmaid dresses are preloved which has saved over £830 on their retail prices.
My wedding budget spreadsheet compares what we would have spent (buying new or not DIYing) with what we have spent and we have saved over £4k on our wedding costs by buying preloved, getting good deals from our suppliers (bridal cars were a bargain) and with a little help from my family.0 -

I think its up to each couple what they spend - if the couple have £50k and want to spend it, then thats their decision, they could be making £150k a year - so its only 1/3rd of their wages, the same as someone spending £3k, if they are earning £30k.
I think you meant the same as the £30k earning couple spending £10k, as 3k is only 10% of income, the same as the £150k earning people spending £15k.
The question how much is your wedding as a % of your annual income is probably more interesting than the total figure, as it shows how affordable the wedding is for that person.
We are thinking ours will be around £7k I think, excluding honeymoon. The honeymoon will probably cost £5k, as we want to go on a 'trip of a lifetime' to Borneo (and see orangutans-yay!:)) We'd rather spend that extra £5k on a 2-3 week one off trip than as extra money on the wedding, on just one day.0 -
We saved £10,000 but have used just over 9. This is for 70 guests during the day and 100-110 in the evening.
They say the average spend is about 20 I think which I think is just ridiculous. I mean yes if you're a millionaire then fine, but I know I have everything I want, and everyone there who I want to, we have extras like a choir and a chocolate fountain and haven't 'scrimped' on anything and we've done it for under £10,000.Married my wonderful husband on 8/9/12 :j0 -

KitschKitty, can I get some tips?

I think the average spend is actually the mean spend- not the mode or median, which may actually be a better indicator. The 3 people a yet who spend a million etc probably weigh out the 10 that (somehow manage to) do it for £200 (Think is Leicester that does it that cheap!)
I would be interested to see the different averages... But that may just be my inner geek coming through...

We kept ours to just under £13k for 80 day guests and an extra 20 in the evening, not including honeymoon. We spent more on the forever things like rings (£1800) and less on the 10 minute things like favours (£25 in total). The photographer was the best expense at £800, her pictures are amazing and I will cherish them forever. My dress was £1000, a bit of an extravagance but I adore it and can always sell it on if we need the money. We had good food, plenty of wine and most of all a brilliant day, I don't regret a penny.0
