  • Can the Aunt take her to see a nurse or family planning place or youth drop in centre (if possible)? The child needs to go through all the options and have as much help and support as possible.
I think the Aunt also needs to try and persuade the child to tell her mum and reassure her that the Aunt will be there for her and that the mum will be shocked but supportive (hopefully she will be - the Aunt will probably know best).
Best of luck to all concerned.

The excuse for a mother of the lad should really be dragged through the courts as accessory to statutory rape. P155 poor parenting, literally.

Without disagreeing with the general sentiment, just need to point out that it's not statutory rape because the lass is 13 years old. Stat rape is under 13s.

The girl confided in your friend and your friend told you. That's not very confidential...

As the mum of sons and a daughter, why is it only the mother of the boy in this case who is "!!!! poor" and "irresponsible"? Surely both children bear equal responsibility for this pregnancy, and any parenting deficits are identical?

Hardly - the girls mum rang to check it was the female freinds house as told by her daughter, and the mother of the boy colluded in the childrens deceit by lying! The girls mum did what I would have done, not expecting another parent to lie!

  • Sorry but your friend has a duty to tell the girls parents… she is the sister of one of them! She is not protecting her niece properly if she doesn’t tell the parents.. also both the niece and the boy need to be spoken to properly about this, she is still a child (no matter how mature she thinks she is) and I think it will forever scar her unless he gets proper help.

I don’t know why so people are criticising the boy only and saying ‘poor girl’ though… the OP sounds like she consented. Although the mum of the boy lying on their behalf is awful….

Is anyone criticising the boy? His mother certainly, him no.

I'm saying poor girl because this is a horrible situation for a 13-y-o to be in! Yes it sounds like she consented - at 13 is anyone really mature enough to know what they are consenting to and how sex will affect them? She was either not mature enough to get contraception or wasn't using it properly, that's if she even thought that far ahead and the sex didn't "just happen" that night. Or maybe she believed the playground myths about how to prevent pregnancy, there are dozens, all utterly useless.

She's a kid, who wasn't old enough to know what she was doing and is now paying the ultimate price. Doesn't that deserve a flicker of sympathy?!?

I'm not sure if her parents need to know but they SHOULD KNOW. Her aunty needs to tell the mother. If my sister knew my DD was pregnant, helped her make such an important decision and not tell me I would be furious.

Such an important life changing decision and she is so young and confused she needs her parents right now.

I do not see anyone criticising the boy either!

But it is the girl who's body this is happening too, her that has to make such an important decision and her life that is going to be affected forever no matter what she decides to do.

I read this as criticising the boy for statutory rape... his mother can't be an accesssory to it if he isn't responsible in the first place?
