Then those who have replaced just the glass and those who are selling the glass only on EBay etc are dreaming ???

The digitiser is the glass with touchscreen function. the screen behind (eg. AMOLED) is the really expensive part -though replacing the digitiser doen't look like it's for the faint hearted -the part is only around 13 quid.

I cracked the screen on my 15mth old blackberry torch. 2 cracks that crossed in the middle. Annoying but the touchscreen still worked, the LED screen was unaffected, and with a screenprotector on I didn't catch my fingers on the crack - so I never bothered fixing it.
