What about higher insurance premiums in years to come? You do realise that insurance tends to come with an excess, that couple with next years premium increasing means it may not be sensible to claim.
Err... you do both realise that "free" insurance that comes with a bank account doesn't have a premium to increase :TAt least you know exactly what happened to the phone and what was repaired/replaced.
What does it matter whats happened to it... its a phone, it just needs to work....No, it shouldn't be in 'as new' condition and reconditioned phones from insurance companies are usually repaired faulty/broken phones from their 'pool'.
Err.. even if they wereall repaired (which they aren't, a lot are customer returns under distance selling regs that can't then be resold as new phones....), they would be repaired to as new condition... are you really naive enough to think an insurance company could get away with sending out phones with huge scratches on or cracked screens, functions not working....A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A
If you find my posts useful, "pay it forward" and help someone else out, that's how places like MSE can be so successful.0 -
Yes, I did realise that after posting.Lifes_Grand_Plan wrote: »Err... you do both realise that "free" insurance that comes with a bank account doesn't have a premium to increase :T
That said, it's not uncommon for the excess to rise for repeated claims, that is essentially about the same.
I does matter. Very often phones have inconsistent faults that are difficult to identify and repair. It's not uncommon to send a repaired phone back to the company in a week, then keep it sending back again and again. What does it matter whats happened to it... its a phone, it just needs to work....
As I said, insurance companies often have their own pools of repaired phones. They send you a replacement, then repair your phone and add it to the pool. Generally, these pools have nothing to do with the phones returned by customers to retailers, but I concede that there can be exceptions and you can be lucky to get a returned new handset as a replacement.Err.. even if they wereall repaired (which they aren't, a lot are customer returns under distance selling regs that can't then be resold as new phones....),
Yes - in theory. Unfortunately, practice is different.they would be repaired to as new condition...
I am not naive. Scratches are pretty common. However, if my memory doesn't fail me, I have not said anything about 'huge scratches' and 'cracked screens' in my post.are you really naive enough to think an insurance company could get away with sending out phones with huge scratches on or cracked screens, functions not working....0 -
You should have a had a protective case on it, the design of the Galaxy S3 unlike the Galaxy S2 and the iPhone 5 doesn't have a rim around the glass and it's curved so if you drop it face down the glass will take all the impact.

Nat West Silver Account
£8 per month gives you:
European Travel Insurance
Mobile Phone Insurance– including iPhone
Five music downloads every month from hmvdigital
Three DVD rentals and up to 2 hours online streaming every month from LOVEFiLM
Downloads are worth £3.50, Lovefilm a fiver? so phone insurance and travel insurance 'free'.
Works for me.

Unlike with your NatWest, European travel insurance is really free for me with my Nationwide and Santander accounts. Yes, I have two of them just because they are really free.
And it doesn't matter how much downloads and DVD rentals are worth unless you really need them, not just use because they are 'free'.0 -
Thankfully I recently received 24months free mobile insurance

My S3 has fell from the roof of my car, had it in a rubber case, tis fine.
Wouldn't really say it's the networks fault mate, unlucky and you'll have to take this on the chin.
As for people above whining about mobile insurance.... the phone is the best part of £500, a small device you have with you all the time, it makes sense.0 -
The outer screen is replaceable very cheaply via Ebay but the digitizer part is far more expensive if that is also needed .
