    Today's jobs

    Finish ironing
    Pick up holiday brochures
    Run
    Piano lesson
Plan something to do each weekend this month that is free or at minimal cost as Mr AJM is quite low on funds.

My car appears not to be working but I don't know why :( it was fine when I got out of it yesterday, it doesn't look like I have a puncture however I can't reverse off my driveway and when I try to cheat it by going forward first I still don't have any success. I am leaving it for a bit in the hope I am being stupid, if I see my next door neighbour I may have to ask him to have a go or I will be waiting for Mr AJM to get home and see before I ring the breakdown people but it looks like I won't be going anywhere today :(

I tried my car again earlier this afternoon and I still couldn't move it so had to cancel my piano lesson. Mr AJM came home and it moved  I am sure it is not a girly thing, maybe because it is my car I was being more careful, he just gave it more welly. At least it makes getting to work easier tomorrow.

    Finish ironing Done
Pick up holiday brochures Couldn't get to town
Run We did quite well (Mr AJM has started joining me :D)
    Piano lesson Had to cancel
Plan something to do each weekend this month that is free or at minimal cost as Mr AJM is quite low on funds. I still need to do this so will look now

Just popping in to say hi, I am reading daily but have not really felt in the mood to post.

I am panicking a little about my health at the moment although there is probably nothing to worry about. I have been testing my pulse rate around my exercise to see if it has been dropping as I get fitter and on Monday decided to check it after finishing a hard rowing session to see how high it gets. It was very regular but skipping beats (on a regular basis), I spoke to Mr AJM and agreed I would keep an eye on it. However I was seeing the doctor on Wednesday so thought I would mention it while I was in. He did a couple of checks on my pulse, blood pressure and listened to my heart. He said something sounded a bit different but I have no idea what as I have panicked a bit since. He sent me for an ECG that day just to check, although the nurse couldn't say anything she said there was nothing that meant I couldn't leave the hospital. The test results should hopefully be with the doctor for my appointment on Tuesday when I will hopefully be able to put my mind at rest. The only time I am truly feeling calm at the moment is when I am exercising (luckily I haven't had to stop that) but can obviously only do so much so am just trying to stay calm the rest of the time. I am probably worrying about nothing and at least the doctors are aware.

  • Hi AJ,
I read your entire thread over Christmas and have subscribed :)

I know it's hard not to worry but I really wouldn't! My husband works in the field of cardiology and he always talks about this stuff. I admit I don't really listen but from what I do understand there are lots of innocent things that can make your heart do funny things, like caffeine!

For a while when I was exercising more regularly I started getting blurry vision while on cardio machines. It was bizarre but nothing to worry about apparently!

If the nurse had seen something you wouldn't have been allowed to leave the hospital or at the very least referred to a cardiologist rather than back to your own GP.

Be kind to yourself now, baths, walks, good food, books or films etc to try and relax!

    Take Care,
    FL xx

Good afternoon AJM, just wanted to pop in and hope that you're getting a chance to relax and unwind after your recent concerns.

I just ordered new running shoes, I ended up having to throw out the old pair as I'd worn right through the sole (probably a good sign)!

    Take it easy :)

Nearly a week since I posted

We have had a lovely day so far, a wander around the shops, a top up food shop and we have just put up a load of pictures that we have been meaning to do since we moved it 2 and a half years ago! It has made the small spare room look so much tidier already. We have a small shopping list for tomorrow, a couple of frames and a kitchen clock so we can finish putting things up around the house. It has made Mr AJM happy to finally get things that make the house look homely, I am hoping to strike while the iron is hot and get him to help me do a small amount of sorting. I have 2 main things, put all the Christmas wrapping stuff and present bags etc in one place so we can find them easily and sort the ever growing piles of things in the living room.

We finally used an M&S voucher for a food shop yesterday, they are some of their healthy ready meals, not something I would usually do but it is going to make my life a bit easier this week as it is very busy at work. I think I have enough meat and fish in the freezer for the main part of all the meals for the rest of the month so I am going to try and make a meal plan for this. We are both a bit short of money but not in our spending account, I am trying to be frugal with it in the hope I can buy some house things with it towards the end of the month.

I need to go for a run but am feeling a bit lazy at the moment, only a week left on my re-conditioning running programme from the physio though and then I can start building up speed ready for my fitness test at work. Hopefully that will give me the kick I need to go out of the house soon, I am watching some winter sports at the moment so am aiming to go out in about half an hour.

My ECG results finally came back to the doctor today, everything appears to be ok. I feel happier as the doctor listened to my heart again and said everything sounds normal now. I haven't pushed myself quite as hard as I did 2 weeks ago exercise wise, the next planned hard session is in 5 weeks so time will tell then.

I'm not really sure where the days are going, hard to believe that January is nearly over...then it is the downward spiral to my next birthday! I am busy exercising 6 days a week and don't really seem to be getting on here or any of my favoured websites really. I am loving the exercise, my ankle seems to be back to normal now. I had a strange twinge yesterday but it doesn't hurt at all with my rowing or running now, I guess I just have to get used to the fact it will always be a bit weaker now. It is still a slightly strange shape but the physio mentioned that might still take a few months. I'm sure it looks normal to everyone else and things could be so much worse.

I am steadily keeping up with my OPs and we are trying not to spend too much money at the moment so hopefully I can send some more money to savings/OPs.

I am going to be very busy with work over the next few months so I am looking forward to the next month, the quiet before the storm! I will be away from Mr AJM quite a bit which I find really hard. We are trying to find plenty of things to do when we are together as short breaks seeing as we can't get on holiday until July.

I hope everyone is well. I am reading plenty of diaries but am not really having much time to post.

In money news, we are already ahead of my OP schedule for this year. We have had a very thrifty January so I am making the most of the extra cash. I am looking forward to the next two council tax free months to bolster the OPs.

Work looks like it will be getting in the way of holidays over the next couple of years. We are making the most of things this year but will be away far less. Depending on how things go next year I am going to suggest to Mr AJM that we put some extra money to the mortgage and maybe have a harder year of OPing in 2015.

My exercising is going really well, I have had 6 sessions a week for the last 3 weeks (I normally only last 2 weeks before I find excuses) and am enjoying the benefits. I have finished my reconditioning programme from the physio now and am starting a new programme next week. I have finally been keeping a proper food diary alongside the exercising to finally try and find the cause of my bloating. I am taking measurements throughout the day to determine the different stages, once I get enough info I will take it to the doctor and get their opinion. It is helping me eat a bit healthier as I am being honest about what I am eating and don't want to write the rubbishy things down. However I am going away for 2 days with work today which will involve eating in service stations which will make things a bit more taxing.

I need to meal plan and use things up but that will probably have to wait until Tuesday evening when I get home.
