My S&S ISA is performing really well at the mo, £400 in the last 6 days. If it kept growing like this the mortgage would be gone in no time. :j
I am finally trying to meal plan for this week. We are in every evening although different things are going on but I am going to try. We have lots of chicken and steak in the house which should last a while. I will get the hang of this.
Going round to a friends this afternoon. She got some chickens this week and grows a lot of veg in her garden, I am hoping to get some inspiration. She is also feeding us afternoon tea :D Around this I am going to try and fully empty one box from our spare room. Mr AJM is writing reports for school but I am hoping if I check stuff with him as I go that I can make some progress. I have no idea when we will get to the stage that Mr AJMs son may come around here but I would like the house to be in order. Nothing else has spurred us on to sort it so this may be the push I need.

I think meal planning would be easier if I had help. I know Mr AJM never knows what he wants so I decided to approach it a different way. I think I will leave the meal planning until tomorrow, do an inventory and then be really strict at making our meals up from that. I have tomorrow off so will be able to make a meal quite easily. I might try and do a dessert in the slow cooker or try one in Nigella's book.

I have managed to make a meal plan to take us up to Thursday and will then make another for the weekend. We already have most of the stuff in the house so I should only need to spend £10 today and maybe get some extra milk through the week. I don't think we will be eating chicken again for a while after this week though!!! I will try and be a bit more innovative with our meals for the next planning session and will do a full check of the fridge/freezer before Thursday too. I WILL get the hang of this.

    Todays jobs
    Shopping
    Quick blitz around the kitchen
    Check inventories
    Bake cake
Make rolls up to put in freezer
    Ironing
    Piano practice
    Run at gym
Catch up on work paperwork at home

That should keep me going for now

I must have miscalculated the shopping this morning as it came to £17 but if I can get away with only buying milk this week then it will be an achievement. I spent longer at work than I intended so will need to play catch up soon but currently enjoying the warm weather in my conservatory.

I am determined not to throw so much food out so will probably have a lot of questions for using things up. My first is what can I do with eating apples that are passed their best? Can you use them in the same way as cooking apples? Off to check my inventory in a sec so I will probably come out with more questions. I was only ever taught basic baking at school so am not very confident deviating from recipes.

Eating apples are fine cooked in a pie or crumble, just don't add as much sugar as they are obviously much sweeter than cooking apples.

Have a look on the Old Style board for tips on using up leftovers, I use leftovers in all sorts of dishes as do most of the Old Stylers.

I think it will be a crumble which means I can leave the cake baking until Wednesday. I think Mr AJM will be impressed when he gets home later. He is normally the one who makes the stir fry's but I am giving it a go tonight courtesy of the good food website and am making my own sauce which he doesn't. He likes coming home to me cooking especially when he works late like tonight, I think a dessert may make him think someone else has moved in :rotfl:

Dinner was yummy, chicken and mango stir fry followed by apple and cinnamon crumble.

Tomorrow is left over roast chicken & gravy with potatoes and broccoli and left over crumble. At least Wednesday will be a chicken free day :D

Looking forward to a chicken free day tomorrow.

Mr AJM is meeting up with his son for the first time on Thursday evening and may be coming here at the weekend. This could be an awkward weekend.

Trying to plan meals for next week at the moment, there is a kind of plan up until next Wednesday. Just trying to work out a shopping list for Friday. Tonight we are having sticky pork with jasmine rice and green beans and nectarines with meringues and ice cream for dessert. The sticky pork is another new recipe to me courtesy of BBC GF, the meat has been marinading and I am just waiting for Mr AJM to let me know he is on his way home and I will start cooking.

I have cut the grass at the front today, it looks so much better but still need to edge it. Unfortunately my back can't cope with too much at a time so I am trying to do short bursts but the rain is NOT helping :o

I think Mr AJMs son may be coming here at the weekend so I will be spending tomorrow night tidying everywhere but the spare room while DH is out at his first meeting with him. Friday night I would like us to try and blitz the spare room (this may be the kick we need) and hopefully finish cutting the grass around that and the weather. I will do some baking as well, malt loaf tomorrow night so it can improve with flavour when we need it, I need to use up the malt extract and syrup anyway.

The rain is here so the only thing I may get done in the garden is the edging. It I had kept going I may have finished it but I would not be able to stand up now!

I intend to try £bay this weekend, thanks Tilly for the FLW post on your thread. A friend's girlfriend is a jeweller and he has taken 2 rings home for her to value and check details so I can put it on this weekend. I am happy to list them for a sensible price so long as I make £50 for both of them as that is what they would cost for scrap.
