I have made £680 on my S&S ISA in the last 12 days, I wish it always grew like that as this mortgage would be gone in no time.

Really need to sit down and do a meal plan for the rest of the week but struggling to get going.

I have spent quite a lot of time putting things where they belong this morning but I still have a long way to go. We have found some bedroom furniture that we would like for our room which should cost us about £600, we are looking at getting it in the next couple of weeks and then we will finally have one room exactly as we want it. I originally planned to sort every room and finish with the spare room aka the junk room, however I think this is the wrong way round so am going to try and persuade Mr AJM that we spend some time in there this weekend. I am planning on giving gumtree a go but am a little scared so off to read up a little.

I seem to be having different ideas on our financial situation daily. We moved into a brand new much larger house nearly 2 years ago (moved from a 2 bed 1 reception room to a 4 bed 2 reception room with dining kitchen), we moved with all our previous furniture and as it was a show home all the decoration was done. We have always talked about updating our furniture and adding a bit of colour to make the place our own but as yet we haven't done anything and if the money keeps going to the mortgage we won't have any. I am wondering about spending a couple of years saving money towards new furniture and getting the place as we want it and then start OPing again. However I like seeing the change the OPs are having. Maybe we should aim to do a room a year and still OP, we would be MF at about the time the house would be finished. First on our list is our bedroom and then the living room. After that the rooms left don't really matter so I might make a push to do it this year. Oh the turmoil!!!

In case anyone is interested in ordering a steak selection https://www.donaldrussell.com/hsmm1301 the offer is on until the end of the month. If you go on their website you will see how good value the offer is and it is also free delivery. I have just put in an order and it will be here on Thursday.

AJ I don't see the point in living with furniture you're not happy with for years and then getting it. After all, if you buy good stuff and it will last a lifetime you may as well reduce the price per year down :rotfl:. Seriously, I'd look to getting it sooner. Your plan sounds good :T.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

My meat has arrived and is now in the freezer. I am looking in to other places that deliver meat/veg other than the supermarkets to see if this is a viable option. We have at least 7 portions of steak which all look like good pieces of meat plus some mini burgers and some sausages. Now I just need to buy plenty of other types of meat and we will have a month's supply of meat in the freezer.

Rather than volunteering (as we can't find anything we would like to do) we are considering joining the local rotary club. It is something we talked about years ago but forgot about, someone put a leaflet through our door the other day which has got us interested again. We would like to meet some people locally as we don't really know anyone so we might be going along next Tuesday.

Hi aj, my dad is a Rotarian, they do a lot of fund raising for various charities and its quite sociable too, hope it goes well :D
    MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁
  • Hi AJ, I was a member of Rotoract for years and loved it. Good luck on Tuesday.

Plus on your meat purchase, I've used them too and the quality is fantastic, you'll love it :)

Have a good weekend, Tilly x

Today has been absolutely brilliant. I spent hours sitting on a coach for someone to decide we weren't going to work because of the rain. However all that paled into insignificance when I found that Mr AJM's eldest son had written to him for the first time in over 8 years :j unfortunately when we got together and his ex-wife found out she did everything to turn their 2 sons against him so it was easier for them not to have contact with him (although at the time we thought they weren't interested). However his eldest has left home and sent a letter to Mr AJM explaining his life over the last few years. Hopefully they will get together soon and be able to build a new relationship. Unfortunately his youngest has not been in touch but hopefully it will only be a matter of time. I am so happy that part of Mr AJM's life is becoming complete as it has been awful for him to have no contact for so long. I feel a bit guilty as I am not sure where/if I can fit in, I don't want to come between time they need together but want to be a part of my husband's earlier life. I know time will tell and I wanted to put this here so I can get the thoughts out of my mind and not bring him down on a very special day.
