Just popping in to say hi! I hope you feel a bit better tomorrow.

I was toying with the idea of entering all of my stockpile into a spreadsheet after reading the 'second purse' challenge thread today. It would be a big task, but I bet I could do it if I didn't spend so much time on here!

I know the feeling, I don't get any more from sitting reading these threads for hours apart from finding new threads to follow. Although checking my spreadsheets numerous times a day doesn't do anything either!

Still feeling quite achy today so still in my PJs. I have got quite a bit done though from a list I had already made for today.

Monday
Make nutty chicken
Update freezer inventory I have updated all the food inventories now :D

Decide on more meals for plan I have planned all the meals until the end of the month and have done a shopping list for it too

Pick up trousers from dry cleaners
Go shopping

I only need to buy the main ingredients for 6 days of meals and then veg etc to go with them. I will be able to use up most of the stuff in the freezer to try and help start February clear and bulk cook/buy then. I have quite a lot of stuff that needs using up in the cupboards to (some out of date :o) but I am hoping the things will be fine. The good thing is although we have had to throw a couple of food things away we bought all that stuff before the new year started to I don't feel so bad.

Having my cuppa, will shower then going to give this nutty chicken a go for dinner. SC is going to be used for the first time this year.

So long as Mr AJM doesn't try to get too involved this week I should only need to buy milk, butter and a small amount of veg :j

Nutty chicken now in the slow cooker, hope it turns out ok. I need to make a malt loaf after dinner and I am considering making some scones and freezing them, my mum takes hers out as and when she wants them. I have enjoyed today despite aching, sometimes I wish I could stay at home and do this all the time but then we couldn't have this house and lifestyle so I guess it is back to the grind tomorrow :(

I have a malt loaf in the oven now, unfortunately I can't get the lid back on the malt extract so have cling filmed in and am hoping Mr AJM can help me later. Just need to get some milk and butter from the shops and pick up my dry cleaning and I am just about done for the day :D

I have just made my best looking malt loaf ever and in a couple of days it will be ready to eat :j

I am going to try and budget the rest of the groceries for the month when I get home and then see if I can stay somewhere near it for a bit of a challenge. We have got too used to thinking "well we earn enough so can afford it" but it shouldn't mean that we have to spend it. I would quite happily cut brands down etc but Mr AJM will take more convincing.

I need to work out how to make our own frozen roast parsnips, roast potatoes and yorkshire puddings to cut down a bit on cost and fakeness. We have got very lazy recently and I am ashamed to say I have never made a yorkshire pudding since I left home 14 years ago! I am happy to have things like this in the freezer for convenience but would like them to be mine. If anyone can point me in the right direction then that would be great.

By the way, my nutty chicken is smelling amazing. It is the first time I have made it and don't think it will be the last. Going for my last check of it before I go to get my dry cleaning and shopping.

I am borrowing Mortgagefreeby50's idea and am going to keep track of our supermarket spends on here to get an idea of what we are spending, starting from today.

Mon: £9.56
Tues:
Weds:
Thurs:
Fri:
Sat:
Sun:

This includes a couple of non-food bits but I try to budget for whole supermarket spends anyway so don't mind.

Would love to hear more about nutty chicken - sounds intriguing....
• Yorkie puds can either be from a sachet, just add an egg and water, or Delia's recipe is pretty fool proof. My tip is to make sure the oil is hot in the tin (put the tin in the oven for 5 mins) and the mixture should sizzle when you pour it in. Keep the door shut and they should be ready in about 20ish mins. Yum!

• Ps every time I think I've got 'I dreamed a dream' from Les Mis out of my head, I see your thread title and it starts me off again!
