I had completely forgotten about this thread!

CathT number 44. I wanted to reduce mortgage from 106k to 80k. Am sitting at around 89k so not quite there.

I would like to join Mfi3 T4 though please. It's time to up the ante!
    June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!
  • How time flies... can't believe its been 3 years.

Anyway 38 signing back in. Started challenge at 86,400 with a goal which I thought was tough off 33k. Well under 8K. Unbelievably pleased with that. Crikey... Smashed it! Has been tough and house needs some spending on it but hanging on in.. nearly there.

TBH did cheat, cashed in endowments, which took a chunk off, but did allow a new goal of a year earlier. Now signed up for MFI-4 challenge but bang on target for September (can't finish early due to penalties) would like to challenge self further by having a small savings pot and perhaps get rid of nasty cheap carpets... Also need to seriously replace another car... But it can wait.. I can smell MF>..

  • Barely touched it!! actually, not too bad - I haven't made any ops this year due to personal circumstances but pretty pleased with the first two years mortgage is now at £25913. Not the 10k I was hoping for but without an income for twelve months, not too bad!

    Well done everyone!

  • Great to hear this thread is continuing. I paid off my mortgage with the support of you lovely lot, but things have changed quite dramatically for me since I started the journey. I'm now married and we are just buying our first together house. We complete on 11th January, and my MF journey starts again. Much higher starting point, but with help this time from my amazing husband.
Will go and hunt down the new thread and look forward to the next few years :) x

  • So sorry I forgot to update!!
My target was to complete my mortgage but I am just short of the mark (if you count £4887 'just' short)

So my end result figure is £4887. I would have made it but circumstances beyond my control put a stop to that grrr.

Started the challenge at £42,842 in Dec 2012 so have come a long way and not too far off my target, should be MF in May at the latest.
Good luck to everyone starting the next challenge.
