  • My heart bleeds for you having to pay for your own heating system. Don't you buy anything that's not been subsidized by the poor?

Your right... so instead I'll no longer buy trainers made in Vietnam by children. That will cure the worlds ills...

I came on this thread initially to speak to people that had an ImmerSun or SolarImmersion device but do you know what... for a poxy £249 my mind is made up and I'll just go and buy the SolarImmersion device.

Thank you for helping me reach this decision :)

    Cheers

Glad to see you've nailed your colours to the mast with the sweatshop example, it reveals a lot about you.

Good luck with the immersun. Remember that once you divert energy from the national grid and still receive FITs payment for export, that you're committing fraud.

. . . . .despite part of the FIT being given to you for energy exportation.

As we've grown to expect, that's yet another attack on the FIT scheme from somebody who just doesn't understand it.

FIT payments are made exclusively for generating electricity. There is no requirement to export any of it.

Under a second - completely independent - scheme, RECs are offering to buy any surplus energy I produce at 3.3p/kWh. To save (the RECs) money, they are not obliged to meter that energy so work on the assumption that 50% of anything generated by solar panels will have been exported. In fact, very few people manage to use anything like 50% of their own generation so the RECs are apying even less than the headline price for what they do get.

And before you ask, they don't sell that electricity on to "the deserving poor" at 3.3p/kWh but instead charge 10p (or usually even more) per unit for it.

Yeah about £55 quid worth of fraud a year. HMRC don't even chase that much...

I've designed, built and installed my own 'Immersun' and I still export more than half my generated units - so where does that leave me? Am I committing fraud?

Works both ways though. I don't use any devices so my export is probably more like 70%,yet get paid for the deemed 50%.

There you go,i'm giving my bit back.

In spite of me explaining it a few minutes ago; in spite of other long-standing MSE members explaining it on many previous occasions; in spite of the complete scheme being described in minute detail for anyone prepared to take the trouble to check the facts rather than recycling their foolish prejudices.

What price do you value your integrity? £55 a year? You sell out cheaply.

Please try and remember who is paying your £55 a year - people who have to make the choice of whether to 'heat or eat'.

As I said earlier, to people who defraud the taxpayer it seems like a small amount, a bit of taxi work or cash in hand labouring to supplement the income support. What harm does it do? Eh?
