Hi Viv1956 I work in a school and always think of September as a new start and new year too. Could also do with decluttering and need some routine to get my house in order and want to lose about 3.5 stone, managed to lose 1 stone 9lbs so far this year . Although just made a choccy brownie as been itching to try the recipe I found on here

Hi Starlight and pixiedust09
Glad to have inspired you, Starlight - well done on the weight loss and also on making the decision re car boot. Often it is the decision making that stops us achieving
pixiedust09 - also well done on the weight loss. I have lost 3and a half stone since July 2011 and have another 6 stone to lose but am only thinking about it 2 stone at a time. Otherwise the task looks far too large. weight loss has slowed down a lot but am happy as long as its in the right direction.
This morning I've cleared out the cleaning cupboard so I know whats there and have done the freezer. This afternoon I am aiming to sort/clear the fridge and two of the kitchen cupboards.....posting here is really motivating me0 -
Thanks Viv, looking forward to the next stone marker, will be great to say to folks I've lost 2 stone
.
So far today I've, Cleaned out the bird, washed the towels and hung on the line. Made a choccy brownie, unloaded dishwasher and reloaded dishwasher, poop scooped the garden _pale_, and just about to do an online food hygiene course for work that I've been putting off. The bathroom is on the top of my to do list, but i hate this job with a passion so might put it off until tomorrow

As an ex teacher I have always seen September as the start of the 'new' year and so am going to set myself some goals now instead of in January.
- Lose 2 stone
- get rid of clutter
- get a housework routine going
- cleared my drinks shelf and got rid of old tea/coffee sachets, old part jars etc
- thrown away a half eaten bag of marshmallows
- Thrown half a carrier bag full of old creams and lotions
:eek:I just had to post and tell you that is NOT the mse way of doing things!
Unfortunately, most teachers are always dreadful hoarders too. I'm always amazed at people who post that they have to allow for toiletries as part of their budget. I seem to be constantly trying to use up lotions and potions. I think they multiply in my bathroom cupboards!:rotfl:Good Luck.0 - Lose 2 stone

Hey viv
Good luck with your goals!
You'd be more than welcome to post your clutter/housework/random achievements on the "my home is a mess" thread too, gawd knows I need some motivation! Everyone's lovely and nobody judges, (believe me, I'd have been out of there long ago if they did!!).
maman, what do you do with old lotions and potions which are out of date, if not throw them away? It's all very well saying they should have been used up, but what's done is done.0 -
the lotions I threw smelt horrid and so decided I wouldn't ever use them......
The fridge has been done and now time for the cupboards......wanted to put the charity shop stuff I have collected together in the car but the heavens have opened and I don't intend to get soaked0 -
gravy powder all over the floor, work surfaces covered in lock and lock, recycle bin in the middle of the room .....
why is when trying so hard to clear and declutter , all I end up doing is making more mess. It's nearly time for DH to arrive home and the house now looks worse than when he left this morning....he is never going to believ me when I say I have been clearing.....0 -

Hi Viv
...have followed you over from another thread. Hope you don't mind. Can I join you with your new start, because this is exactly what I need to do too. My DD is back at school next Thursday and I am a SAHM (partly because I want too, but also partly because I can't find a job that fits my skills and allows me to take DD to school and pick her up!).
My resolutions are:
Continue to loose weight, started last Thursday. Lost 3lbs first week and want to loose a further 10lbs. Calorie counting aswell as trying to follow a budget for food!
Walk back from school, weather permitting, so dog gets at least one walk a day and we save some money on petrol (that can be used for other things)
Do Housework instead of sitting on the laptop most of the time, and seeing that as my job and doing well at it. (Very good at tidying not so great at the actual cleaning part)
Cope with the money that I have and stop getting anxious about not having any!! Not buy stuff we don't need. If I do need something to try and get it second hand or from the charity shop.
Spend quality time with DD when she is back from school and at the weekend and find other ways to treat her that don't involve spending money.
Well done for making your start and for prompting me to get my a**e in gear:T I look forward to hearing how you get on.
Now I just need the rain to stop so I can load the car and get some stuff to the charity shop!! On another thread I was bemoaning doing a car boot. Have come up with a solution to that one. Will keep items that I think are of real value and share a table with a friend who I know wants to do a car boot. The rest has to go to Charity. Much calmer now I have made that decision.pixiedust09 wrote: »Hi Viv1956 I work in a school and always think of September as a new start and new year too. Hello viv1956, Starlight, pixiedust and everyone I've missed,
I also want to set some aims starting Sep. I'm a SAHM and when my two rascals go back to school on Tues, I want to set some achievable aims. Mainly:
1. loose weight, exercise more, be healthier (and drag DH into plan)
2. declutter (BIG TIME)
3. autumn clean
4. decorate and revamp
5. keep up thrifty ways and rev up a notch or two
6. work on my anxiety & lighten up a little
7. spend more time doing what I (individually, as a couple, as a family, as a friend) want to rather than what I feel I should be doing - in fact ban use of should full stop.
Now I have my aims, I need to set some targets and break down until managable steps. I tend to be an all or nothing person and attempt too much, wear myself out mentally, physically and emotionally and then grind to a stop for a while and then start pattern all over again so... this time I resolve to pace myself and plod on in true Capricorn style. Slowly but surely shall be my motto! Also reading back I can see how lots of my aims are linked.
feeling really tired and need to collect DH from station, cook, tidy, supervise bath time, have a bath myself and plan outing tomorrow with a very chatty friend - oh and go to bed early.
when feeling less tired, will set myself some small initial aims, a sort of warm-up before Tues official beginning and also set out longer term targets broken down into baby (or toddler on a good day) steps:j
onward and upward, slowly but surely, here this old goat comes!

Hi savingqueen
welcome to the September new year group - your aims are very similar to mine but you have outlined them in a lot more detail than I have. I retired in order to have more 'me' time but that doesn't seem to have happened. I also know that when away in the caravan I am a lot more relaxed and settled......and in the caravan everything has its place and its very uncluttered....there's a message there , I think0 -
Hello :wave:to all september new year peeps
