Lovely to see him again although he is tired and tetchy....and has gone to bed early.
It's a hard life, these weeks away enjoying yourself
I'm sure you're glad to see him home, sure he'll be more awake come the morning!0 -

With a bit of headscratching and tweaking I kind of got it working to my figures. This is much more of a motivator than just current balance as it brings our goal closer and that's exciting.
I have adjusted the sig to show this revelation and in line with the underlying philosophy as well, which is, er, underlying it! Figures are from today so please the balance has stuck as predicted, sub-£70K!
Happy to help. It is a great motivator and I'd be lost without my spreadsheet.
Hope your Son enjoyed his school trip.0 -
14 hours straight sleep see a different person in the house this morning!! LOL!
Lazy weekend planned.0 -
Lazy weekend attained. Eaten lots of rubbish and now feel fatter than ever (have fallen of the diet a bit, but re-starting the fasting tomorrow, as I must hit my target weight by Xmas
).
Unbelievable weather, had long walk with the dogs today and now going to read the paper and nod off.
I am also reading very interesting book on the Kindle about alternate financial planning that may interest some of you:
Early Retirement Extreme: A philosophical and practical guide to financial independence by Jacob Lund Fisker
Only a couple of chapters in but very fascinating stuff and chimes with the simple approach to things as well as the long term goal of opting out the work-spend-work cycle altogether.0 -
As mentioned on my thread, it's a great read, I only wished that I read it for the first time when I was a lot younger.
Reading it created one of those rare moments when the scales fall from your eyes...0 -
Thanks SD, I'm going to ask Mr T to look into this as I'd like to buy it for Miss T.
Thanks as well to Mr E - as DD is really keen on being financially savvy, this may make interesting reading for her. DS is too young but will be steered by DS as well.

Tilly - might be worth mentioning that sections are *very* heavy on equations. I believe the chap has a PHD in physics or similar. Still, the themes can be absorbed without the specifics being nailed down completely.0

Thinking abut this I've always wondered why she doesn't want a career using maths but she has her eyes set elsewhere.

Sorry to jump in but the author also has a blog which follows the themes in the book, lots of tips and best of all, it free!
Just type in early retirement extreme in google and you should be able to find it.
I just wish I had found his website and mr money Mustache's websites a few years ago!0 -
