Hi Diamonds,
There's an older thread on this that should give you some ideas so I've merged your thread with it to keep all the suggestions together. Also for inspiration it's well worth a browse through the The Complete Old Style Recipes Collection

My favourite meal to cook hm from scratch would have to be lasagna (6 inches thick, lol) and garlic bread. Although not completely hm - don't make my own pasta . . . yet.0

Next day remove and let it cool. Pop the juices in the fridge. Weh the fat has settled on the top remove, then thicken the rest to make the gravy.
Unstring the shoulder of lamb and pull out all the meaty bits...it's amazing froma cheap cut of lamb how much decent meat you can get off it.
Make mash and put in kenwood chef for a good beating...makes it creamy.
Add gravy to meat, place on bottom of dish, top with mash and then sprinkle on grated cheese. Pop in oven and drool until it's done.
OMG that sounds so nice! gonna def try this. :T I normally make a sheps pie out of mince, yours sounds much tastier.0 -

artic roll or apple crumble for puddingHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -
We have 2 favourite family meals.
One is a curry - which my husband cooks. Its truly scrumptious as he makes his own chapatis, onion relish, minty dip thingy.
The other is mexican.
I stir fry onions, peppers & mushrooms & they go in one bowl.
I then stir fry chicken or turkey strips which have been marinated in a fajita spice mix. Thats another bowl.
Some home made potato wedges done in garlic and herbs OR rice OR Jacket pots.
We have a big bowl of salad.
Some dips. Sometimes homemade - often not :rotfl:
And lots of tortilla wraps.
I'm a veggie so this works well for us. My youngest doesn't like the onions/peppers/mushrooms so having it seperated from the meat makes it easier all round.
For some reason, even though my girls are 15 & 13 they STILL seem to eat more when its done as a 'buffet' type meal where you help yourself.
mmmm, am hungry now:oSometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -
I love cooking, so it's hard to choose a favourite, but I guess it would have to be pizza, as I like making the dough from scratch. Also, we just bought new (ENAMAL not TEFLON!) pizza pans from the hypermarket and they are absolutely ace for making a nice crisp crust.
I also really like making stir-fries, cutting up all the different veg and arranging it in neat piles on plates before cooking it (sad as that may sound). It just looks so healthy and vibrant... not to mention it tastes waaaay better than any Chinese takeaway! (mmmm, I think I know what's for tea tonight...)
:AI want to move to theory. Everything works in theory.0 -

Just had Queen of Puddings for the first time in my life at the weekend while away in Cornwall staying with relatives! The lady who made it is a divine cook anyway but have to say this pudding was off the chart on the pleasure stakes!! Can't believe have never tried it before, was gorgeous!!

As a family our favourite is sausage bake, properly because it's a 'norty' dinner that doesn't get made very often. Its just chopped cooked sausages, a layer of baked beans, a layer of cheese sauce and a layer of mash sprinkled with grated cheese but done in the oven in a casserole dish it somehow tastes much better than the same things would done separately. If you get the layer ratios just right it is the ultimate comfort/rainy day food.:heart2: Mumma to DD 13yrs, DD 11yrs & DS 3 yrs. :heart2:0
