BIOS dead

A lot of confusing information in this thread!
Not all motherboards are able to recover from a floppy disk when they have a corrupted BIOS. Many can, but plenty can't!
The information provided by you in post #16, should have been enough to solve the problem - however there are two versions of your motherboard: 1) P6NGM-L and 2) P6NGM-FD.
You need to look inside your computer and look on the motherboard itself, for writing such model number, above. Being a Medion PC, it might not even be that as they sometimes use generic parts.
You can quite clearly see the model number from that picture - it's to the left of the great big silver heatsink. So consider looking in that area.
If you still don't see it, it's probably marked between or next to the expansion slots or on a sticker at the corner or edge of the motherboard.
Here is a pretty indepth guide to BIOS recovery, from MSI's own forums: http://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=119375.00 -
I do need both - the external USB drive to obtain the file for the floppy from my laptop and the internal drive in order to reinstall it to the desktop PC !!
I will be trying it later tonight - thanks
I see what you mean... I read it as you needed the external to re-flash the BIOS.
Have fun.0 -
it looks as if mine is model 27366 2.2
does that help ?
this is written in very small text along the edge of the board...........0 -
OK - I made a boo boo and picked up a 720k floppy from work - that is too small for the 1Mb BIOS file - will have to retry again tomorrow
Thanks all for your continued help.........0 -

As I surmised...you flashed your board with the BIOS meant for the PCB 3.1. That is why it failed.
Hopefully, you can recover it with my instruction and the correct AMIBOOT.ROM file.
Good luck.0 -

You are just repeating information that was given as far back as post #9
Not only that, but you are giving the wrong information, by linking to the MSI Motherboards, as these are custom BIOS.
I have already linked to the correct BIOS in post #43
Also AMIBOOT.ROM for MS-7366 Ver: 2.2 in post #50
So now the OP has the tools to do the job.
I guess that you couldn't be bothered to read the whole thread before posting.
and you missed one.... P6NGM-FIH

I assume that I need to copy the contents of the unzipped folder to the floppy - rather than the zipped folder or even the unzipped folder itself ?
because I assume that it will be looking for a BAT file ?0 -
