but having 16l in savings would precluude you from receiving any means tested benefit!0

you have said that you have been ion income based ESA for 4 years.
that would suggest that you havent worked in this time.
you would have had to have worked and paid NI contributions in the tax years 09/10 and 10/11 to have any entitlement to contributions based benefit!
if you werent working during these years, there is no possible way that you have neem entitled0 -
For CB ESA they will look at class 1 and class 2 NI credits for the tax years 2009/10 and 2010/11
For CB JSA they will look at class 1 NI credits only for the same period
class 1 come from earned income, class 2 can be paid by self employed

being on IB ESA they have been paying my NI is that not enough0 -
not for JSA....
NI credits go towards your state pension not conts based benefit0 -
