Car impounded for no insurance, was told by insurance company that we were insured

Have been reading this but haven't commented so far. Gist is :
- Driver owned car
- Driver was insured for car
- Driver had full UK licence
Pulled over
- Driver's ID checked - linked to or confused with a third party degenerate.
At which point police officer's hackles rise.
- Refuse to talk to insurance co
- Impound car
- Notify DVLA that Mr Degenerate has an alias, Mr xxkitcatxx.
Hence the 'suspending' of the licence. At already noted, the police can't suspend a licence ... but if they believed Mr xxkitcatsxx was really Mr Degenerate who did have a suspended licence and had fraudulently obtained a 'new' licence in a fictitious person's name, I'm assuming they can notify the DVLA of same.
If that's the above scenario - the police response is only valid if Mr xxkitcatsxx is Mr Degenerate or if they had sound reasons to believe that was the case. It would be interesting to know what those reasons were.0 -

It's actually pronounced hihr-wine lol
Got the car back. Were only charged the £150 presumably due up mot actually being open until today which is great and means that even if we never get the fees back, its not a huge chunk to lose to get the car back!0 -
So at what point is/was the licence lost or stolen? Thats the 1st time thats been mentioned.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

As you were not present during the incident how are you able to say with 100% certainty that this was the case?"You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

Yes he did, it was the imposter that didntforgotmyname wrote: »Still correctly taken though because no licence was in force at that time.
They may drop the uninsured charge. But still correctly impounded.
You going to collect the licence so that it doesnt get lost or stolen again?
You really are digging a very deep hole.
Do you have a big flowchart with all your lies on it so you can keep track and change the story slightly?
I can see the future, Your right and they are wrong and you just bought a mansion in Hollywood next door to Zeta Jones (FATSO to you and Kirk), With the proceeds of your compensation.0 -

Where does the OP say it was lost/stolen, I do remember the Op saying it got lost in the post from DVLA but that was way back0 -
Trebor is correct.
It is £150 recovery and £20 a day storage no matter where you are.0
