He doesn't have a licence?! How else would be have been paying insurance?! The last cas insurance was paid direct debit out of my account as was the motorbike when he had it. So will this car when we get it back!

It was suspended one way or another. Neither of us truly understand how given the information you guys have given that a policeman cannot do this.

The policeman said himself that it was fine that the licence address hadn't yet been changed as we have only just moved home abs dvla allows 6 months for this info to be updated. We will find out tomorrow what will or has happened to his licence and hopefully find out who did it in the first place! I will update with the details as and when we get them!

Firstly you don't have six months.

I think its becoming clear his licence has been revoked. I wonder when it last had the correct address on it.

Actually you do. We have moved a few times so know the drill! The last time it was the correct address was just before we moved which was at his nans address where he was living at the time.

One thought that has come to mind is that not long before that, we were living tigether in a flat. He sent off there for his address to be updated but the licence either never arrived, got lost in the post, or was taken by another resident. Dvla insisted they sent it out to the correct address. I'm beginning to think that maybe that's where the identity mix up may have started as there were some rough sorts living there at the time. We'll never know more than likely.

He's never been sent a replacement, however, dvla are satisfied that the address has changed so the licence is our loss, despite the fee we had to pay to change the address and get a new card. Luckily, my partner knows his driving licence number so this is a non issue really but has got me thinking that perhaps this mystery criminal was not such a mystery at one point or another!

    Frightening really!

Dvla have refused in the past to send out a new licence without paying again, despite many phone calls, which we couldn't afford anyways until recently. Ironically, now we can't afford it cos we need to get the car back after all of this! they assured us it didn't really matter anyway as long as their systems were kept updated of name changes or address changes.

The police have stopped my partner a few times in the past due to his late hours (which apparently make him suspicious lol, does noone work at night in our quiet little town?!) They have always been satisfied when he has quoted his licence number and given name and address so can't see that being the issue.

Also, if it was revoked then why would they not have taken him in for it before?! Last time was last month I believe when he picked me up from work one night at 2am.

He got insurance because they have not checked with the DVLA to see if he really did have a licence.

Dont forget to declare this insurance cancellation everytime he renews his policy.

"Have you EVER had a policy cancelled or terms imposed" Answer = yes and could make the premium £££ more.

But not declaring it could see his insurance cancelled and car impounded again.
Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...

  • His previous address was his nans address anyway so we would have gotten any notices of convictions if there were any. unless of course the dvla haven't done their job properly and haven't updated the address so post is going to the flat still but I will add, that that address was changed nearly 3 years ago to his nans so that would be their error!

This was taken from the DVLA website.........

Change of address on your driving licence

You must tell the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) immediately of any changes to your name, address or both. You can update your driving licence online or send it to DVLA for amendment. A new licence will be issued free of charge unless your photograph’s due for renewal.

This is totally irrelevant, but when I bough a new car, the dealer insisted i show the insurance cover note, and photocopied it before I could take the car.

sounds like the license had an address on that was 3 years out of date, and had already been revoked but OP was unaware.........maybe?

So your oh doesn't have a licence to produce, so how's he going to do uIbv within 7 days?

What parallel universe is it you live in?
    6 months to change address.
£50 a day storage for the car.

Your trolling is starting to fail badly.

I would attach the note we were given stating £50 per day but attachments aren't allowed on here.

I came Herr for help and advice and so far only 1 person has actually helped. the rest of you have criticised and accused me of trolling!

    This is ridiculous!

As I have said, he hasn't been requested to produce within 7 days which is why I asked a previous question along the lines of - even if he has not been asked to produce, would cps prosecute if he does not produce within 7 days which would be the case if he had been asked!
