Car impounded for no insurance, was told by insurance company that we were insured

IMHO the Ops other half has told her 'porkies'. I think he has bought the car, chanced it driving it home without insurance but has been stopped by the police and caught.
Shock horror!! Judgmental, condescending comment on MSE after a post asking for help?? HOLD THE FRONTPAGE!!!

As far as any porkies are concerned thats a matter of opinion but I was standing right next to him when he spoke to the insurers who said that the contract was broken as he no longer had a licence!
Who told them he had no licence?0 -
It is my opinion and I think you are genuine. But something is not ringing true. You say his other car was insured with the same company he was just changing the car details. Can you be sure he did this? You can stand right beside someone on the phone but only hear one side of the conversation.
I'm sorry but I will leave this thread at that.0 -
When you take out or change current motor insurance the details don't instantly appear on MID, most insurers will send details to MID on a nightly basis, sometimes MID will reject what's been sent from the insurer to correct so sometimes it's possible for details to not be on MID for a few of days.
The police know this so common sense on their part would be for the police to phone up the insurer to double check assuming the OP has the correct details to hand. But I also would of expected any sensible car seller to not have let a car leave their ownership without seeing physical evidence that the driver is insured to drive. I know when I've bought a car I've had my insurer send the certificate to the car dealer who's called me when recieved, I then go pick up the car happy in the knowledge I'm insure but I carry my insurance details with me for the 1st week until I see my details on the MID0 -

He had it on speakerphone so we could also record the conversation so I heard both sides actually. They just kept quoting the policies terms and conditions!0 -
It's all nonsense, mistaken identity would be sorted out at the roadside, if not at the roadside at the nearest police station. It may have taken a couple of hours at the more extreme side of things.0

Unfortunately common sense did not even seem to spring to mind with this copper. all he seemed to be bothered about us that my partner fould have been a wanted man so ignored all pleas. My partner had the policy number on his phone and asked him to call and quote the number but the officer said no!0 -

This is bollox, you've got an answer to everything that paints your oh in a good light.
How long have you been at your current address?
What law allows you 6 months to change you licence address?0 -

So he had an email confirmation of insurance on the phone?0 -

So when the next post asks "did you record the conversation?"
What do we think the answer will be.
Bank holiday weekend will be over tomorrow so I'm sure everything will be sorted out.:rotfl:0
