Kingfisherblue - at the moment I don't use my playbook for watching films (but tv online, like BBC iPlayer etc is great), nor for music...so can't advise on those bits. I mainly use it for web surfing.
I can confirm that there are loads of great apps and games, lots of them free. The PB is preloaded with a link to the Blackberry App World http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/?lang=en
It also comes preloaded with the Kobo App, so easy to get lots of books. There don't seem to be as many free ones as with Kindle, but if your library does ebooks you can link to that (which I haven't been able to do with my Kindle). http://www.kobobooks.com/free_ebooks

Never been to the library for years, so wasn't aware you could get ebooks from them. Will look into that. Thanks!0 -
Does the playbook need Internet Security ?0

In reply to jenie's question,
in my opinion blackberry's security is one of the best and as long as you stay within their approved sites/ apps world then there should not be anything to worry about, NO extra security will be required.
However if you start downloading apps from sites not approved by blackberry then like any system/tablet you take your life into your own hands.
Any system is only as safe as the user using it, but stick to approved sites all the security you need is provided on the tablet0 -
General security questions - the BB Playbook is as secure as any other tablet. You can't install Windows AntiVirus software etc onto it. It's a different OS.0

We got one for hubby a couple of weeks ago, he loves it, the picture is lovely and clear, he has kobo on it....was originally getting the kobo but glad we didn't now, i don't know much else about it but i would say it would be great for anyone wanting it for their child if ipad is out of their price range...and i over heard a lady asking in currys for a recommendation...he said ipad, she said to expensive and was looking at a samsung...but he said the blackberry was the next bet after the ipad, apart from size obviously.0

You could get this, or a much better Google Nexus 7 for £159. BB is dead. ((Link removed))
The Playbook is the best pound-for-pound hardware deal out there - its limitations depend on what you want to use it for.0 -

Thanks again everyone :T:T:T:T:T0 -
I'm really quite unimpressed by the BB tabs. I found them uninspiring to use and frankly boring. Go for a Nexus or iPad
Well, I'm not and I have used it for months for travelling as it has brilliant audio and very good still & HD video capabilities, not to mention the video replay quality (you can convert any film on your PC to the right format and load it .... use the IPAD format and you should be OK).
Even video chatting is available - although sadly SKYPE is still not an option directly. IMO.IM lets you use Skype or ReelPortal will give you another video chat option. I've used it from Portugal to someone on their PC in the UK, no issue.
With 64Mb storage for less than the price of either tablet mentioned, you'll be able to watch a different HD film each night for a fortnight!
I don't have anything bad to say about the Nexus or the iPAD except the price/feature ratio and the sheer size of the iPAD. I just hate it when people give unqualified negative comments for a good piece of kit.0 -
Not to mention that the Nexus can't output video via HDMI. Something to keep in mind if, like me, you want it for travelling.
macliam - what more expensive cover were you disappointed with?0
