  • I bought the speakers. I plugged the scart in tv and the green audio jack into the lead off scart and headphones into speakers and nothing.

    Sound still comes through TV so now a further £10 down and still not working

    Any ideas?

    I'd suggest that the SCART might be wired for Input use only, and isn't delivering an audio Output.

    Options;

    Get a replacement TV with a genuine headphone output that mutes the speakers. OR

    Open up the TV to access the speaker cables (this WILL invalidate the warranty) and connect a resistor network to them. I've got some electronics experience, have done this before - sounds like you should probably get a TV engineer to do this for you, if you want to go down this road
  • Think its best I leave it for the time being then.

    Thanks anyway.

    I bought a new Goodmans freeview box yesterday at Comet for £25, i notice that's got a plug at the back for headphones.
    Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
    What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

  • Would that work though?

    So plug that in via scart then headphones in to the box?

    If it's got a proper headphone socket, yes it would - this is a rarity on Freeview boxes though.
  • Ok, so pretty much back to the new TV idea?

    Why, a couple of bits and bobs and you have what you want, no need for a new tv.

    I've already listed (with links) what you want, but you went for the other option...
