Headphones to be used with a TV

  • I have one of the bottom items, but the plastic casing is too big to fit in the gap so I cant fully plug the scart in. The gap in the cutout part of the back of the TV between the scart hole and the bottom of the TV isnt big enough. I can try plugging a normal scart into the tv then in to the bottom of this then the speakers into the audio part would this work? Or would this thing need to plugged directly into tv then speakers into audio section then headphones in to speakers?

Unless anything can be done with HDMI and laptop?
  • The Av Link Scart Adaptor 3.5Mm Socket Audio Out needs to be plugged directly into TV then speakers into it. Headphones then plug into speakers.

    HDMI and laptop won't work.

  • Yep I cant plug it in directly as the black centre piece is too large to fit in the gap at the back of TV between scart input and bottom of TV.
  • Managed to fit it in, now I think I will borrow some speakers off someone to try it out first.

So should the headphones worked if plugged directly into it but just cant control the volume or will they just not work until the speakers are plugged in?

I plugged a x-mini speaker into it and it did nothing.
  • This one, which I believe was posted earlier, would probably go in the back of your TV.

For reasons explained earlier you can't plug the headphones directly into it. As you've just discovered they don't work because there's no amplifier!!!

Same reason your mini speaker didn't work.

The Logitech speakers will work because they have a built-in mains powered amplifier for the speakers and integral headphone socket.

May help create more confusion! :D

Seriously though does the dock have a headphone socket?

  • Haha no it doesnt.

So right il borrow some speakers before buying some and test it out.

    Thanks

Providing they are active speakers (i.e built in amplifier). Tbh for the sake of £9.58 delivered you could get the Logitechs and send them back to Amazon within 30 days if you don't want them.
