My Money 2001 share price updates ceased too.

The link to the free Money 2005 update seems to have gone.

    Anyone have any ideas please?

I use the updates daily and feel 'lost' without them.

The link posted by jimjames replicated by GKP1 above, to the direct download works and I converted from Money 2003 to 2005. It was seamless as he states.

Many thanks to jimjames from Jim!

I'm up and running again. :)

As oldfella points out, Money 2005 needs the full, proper ISIN code - GB00 + 8 characters, not 7. This makes sense. Money 2003 didn't want the final check digit.

A couple of my funds are still not updating, but then they never did. It's down to the MSN site rather than Money. Now I know where the prices are coming from, I can take it up with them, which I've done.
  • Thanks for the Money 2005 Link. Much appreciated.

Does anyone know if it's possible to have Money 2001 AND Money 2005 on the same PC?

It'd be nice to try the 2005 version before overwriting my 2001 version.

Do standard three/four letter UK share price codes work ok on the 2005 share price updates?

    Thanks again. :T
  • Money 2005 seems to work and update fine. Thanks for all your help.

If I copy the downloaded programme file to a cd will it work if I ever need to install it onto a new PC? Anyone know?

I may change my pc in the next 12 months and want to be sure I can install my beloved Microsoft Money!

    Many thanks.

Yes the file on that download link will work on any PC. It doesn't need a copy of MS Money to already exist. I installed it on a clean Windows 7 build and it ran fine.

I dare say it might be possible to have both versions installed. However, when I installed 2005 on my pc, it insisted on uninstalling the earlier version first. There did not seem to be an option to install 2005 on a different drive. I understand your reluctance to uninstall the version you are used to - all I can say is that 2005 seems to be ok, although it does take a bit of getting used to.
Yes, the standard EPIC codes are used for UK share prices.
I don't expect this to be a long term solution, because at some stage I think Microsoft will stop Money 2005 from auto updating share prices.
  • I had the lack of fund price update problem too, with Money 2002. Thanks to this forum, I installed Money 2005 (thanks, jimjames) and added the checkdigits (thanks, oldfella), though it was a bit of a nightmare locating all the funds (thanks, lgpm for the link). I now have only one fund not updating - IM Argonaut European Income A Fund Inc.

I too put a shortcut to 'Portfolio' as the easiest way to get to my investments. In reply to wilwak, when I installed 2005 and it asked me if I wanted to remove 2002, but I said no and now have both versions. Howver, you can only have one open at a time and make sure you backup/copy the 2002 verion first since it gets converted when opened in 2005.

Finally I agree with the many comments that Money is indispensible and there is nothing else which fully replaces it. Is anyone from Microsoft listening?

I'm extremely impressed with the 2005 version. There are a lot of features that were missing from 2000 (even down to the back button now working on my mouse) and some fund prices that have never updated in Money 2000 are now working.

One aspect I've not managed to find is any way of reporting funds by sector or geography. There is the option against each fund/share to set the sector and the location but I've not found any way to report that in a report. Has anyone else had any joy doing this?

    Excellent, very helpful thread.

Am I right in thinking that gilt prices aren't available for automatic download on Money (or, surprisingly, not that I can see then, on the FT portfolio facility)?
