My Microsoft Money has stopped getting prices online

Thanks for the information jimjames. I have installed Money 2005 on my laptop (Win7 32 bit), and so far it is updating prices, albeit rather slowly. Money 2000 only ever took a few seconds for the update. I am waiting before installing it on my desktop (Win7 64 bit) because there are a couple of anomolies with the laptop installation: from the Home screen, if I click on the Investing tab, I get a "404 - File or directory not found - the resource you are looking for might have been removed, had it's name changed, or is temporarily unavailable" message. However, if I go straight to the Portfolio Manager link which is under Investing Home on the menu on the left hand side of the Home screen, then it takes me straight to the Portfolio Manager. I don't know what is causing this. In some respects, Money 2005 is an improvement over 2000, but I'm not too keen on the fact that so many bits of it take you to some useless page on the MSN Money web pages.0

If we can buy a piece of software 12 years ago and still be using it with no further income to Microsoft then its not really anything worth them carrying on with. Too perfect for its own good!0

It is also slower to get prices but from looking at the entries it appears to get the whole last year's prices not just the latest one which could explain the speed from the larger volume of data. You can hide the "updating" message to carry on using the software while it is getting prices.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
Thanks for the update (jimjames) in post 17.
It seems to have worked OK with new prices downloaded (2000 to 2005 XP Pro)
I will continue later with the "research and development".

I get that same 404 message too. It is an annoyance but probably one I will put up with to have the software continuing to work to get prices. I was looking to see if there was some way to configure which page it goes to and change it to one that works but so far no joy.

What I've done is to add some shortcuts by clicking on the Shortcuts icon at the top. For example I've added shortcuts for Portfolio, Reports, Account List and Calendar. That way, I'm hoping I won't be upset by the appearance of the 404 message. I agree it's worth putting up with that, although I expect at some point in the future Microsoft will snaffle updates for this version of Money too.0 -
Just to add my two pennies worth. My 2001 version not updating either. I've had problems in the past which have always corrected themselves but this time the message "X Money was unable to connect to online prices server" has appeared which is a 1st for me. Going to try a downloaded version of 2005 Sunset and see what happens.0

Ok, deleted sunset and installed the UK 2005 version from the link in this thread. When converting the MNY file from 2001 to 2005 I got problems with some of my customised favorite reports. Deleted these and it looks like Money is now updating the share and unit trust prices.
So now I've got 2001 on my desktop and 2005 on a laptop. I hope 2001 resumes as I'm more familiar with it's layout.
I'll see how this progress over the next few days and run both version sof Money.0 -
My Money 2001 share price updates ceased too.
The link to the free Money 2005 update seems to have gone.
Anyone have any ideas please?
I use the updates daily and feel 'lost' without them.0 -

Have you tried the link below?

It's the one I used, and it still seems to be working......0
