Quick update on the partial upload of fund prices. All of my funds which had the older (Alternate) symbol have updated as of 5/9/12. My funds with the newer symbols GBnnnnnn etc have not.0

the funds that havent updated need another digit added
eg Fidelity Global Situations was GB00B196XG2, needs changing to GB00B196XG23
to find the code use the funds search page mentioned earlier0 -
Thanks for the hint. Changing the Symbol to add the extra digit has worked. :T0

Hi,
I've been using Money 2000 for a long time now, and have always been able to update share prices... until yesterday morning that is, where it started saying it can't connect to the server. Anybody else seeing this?
Thanks.0 -

Yes I am getting this on Money 2000 but not on the new version that was linked previously in the thread so I will do the switchover at the weekend. Initially I thought our internet was down but with websites working fine it is obviously something in MS Money 2000.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -

Thanks for that. Trying out Money 2005 now, and getting updates ok.0

Btw, I would just add that MS Money is the single most useful piece of software ever written - in my opinion anyway. Without it, it simply wouldn't be possible for me to track my accounts and investments. I've looked hard for replacements, but there is nothing to compare with it. Why Microsoft decided to discontinue it is beyond a mystery. Also, why should they now sabotage one of it's more useful features - autoupdating of share prices - it's incomprehensible.0

Just to add I also use MS Money 2000 with updates to shares and find it irreplaceable. As above it did not work on 6 Sep.
I am hoping it will be some glitch at the other end as it would take ages entering the info manually. (Incidentally I use it on W7 32bit)
I hope this sorts itself out as there is no good alternative available.0 -

I think your experience as well as mine and others on this thread shows why they discontinued it. If we can buy a piece of software 12 years ago and still be using it with no further income to Microsoft then its not really anything worth them carrying on with. Too perfect for its own good!
I agree about it being an exceptionally useful bit of software, one of the very few that has carried across my multitude of PCs over the last 15 years. I'm currently using Money 2000 on Vista 64 bit and the 2005 version on Win7 64bit.
To anyone experiencing problems I'd highly recommend trying the Money 2005 download link I posted before. It is free and seamlessly converts the Money 2000 file to the later format and has better reporting and does still get prices. At least with this route you don't need to manually retype all your history of purchases.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0
