Symbols PHP and TFIF and WPCT (all LSE) are no recognised. Is there a full list of symbols somewhere? Do fund ISINs work as all of mine are Symbol not found.
PHP, TFIF and WPCT seem to be unknown to MSN so MSMoneyQuotes can't get prices from there. It should be able to get prices from ft.com using the -i option

Fund ISINs expressed as 12 characters (including the GB prefix) work OK for me. Look up symbols on ft.com or trustnet

I've ticked the box in Microsoft Money that says just download prices for current investments. The Gaier notes say the program should go along with this, but instead it still seems to be downloading prices for every investment I've ever had
Mine did that too. So I deleted the symbols (in MSMoney) for the funds I'm not tracking. That fixed it.

I fixed those securities by using the symbol file and adding the 151. as mentioned on the help pages. A lot my funds are unbundled ones via my HL SIPP and aren't on FT.com.

I have just insatlled version 2.2 , but am struggling to see how to put funds onto the symbol map.csv file.

Shares are updating OK, but I have about a dozen funds held through HL with the normal 12 character symbols e.g. GB00B95FCK64 ( JO Hambro UK Equity Income - Class Y).

Anyone got advice about how to restore those fund price updates ? None are working at present and can't work out how to add them to the symbol map file.

I found another way... In the Portfolio Manager, on the left hand side, right at the bottom, there's a 'more' option. Inside, there's a 'clear historical prices' option. It lets you clear prices for investments you haven't owned for a certain number of months (you get to choose how many). Not only does it clear the prices - this knocked about 2MB off my file size - it then stops Microsoft Money and/or MSMoneyQuotes trying to get the latest prices for these older investments. Clearly, this isn't much use if you actually want to keep the old prices.

Have you set up the SymbolMap file yet? If not, run MSMoneyQuotes with the -m option and the program will set it up for you (it will put in your shares for you, which you say are still updating). Open the file and you'll see how it works - the first column has your ISINs (the GB00... codes) and the second column has the codes MSN Money needs.

Then go to http://www.msn.com/en-gb/money and search for your funds in the search box right at the top. The whole site's really weird. It may or may not find your fund in its own site. But it also displays results from other sites, like Morningstar, and you should be able to find the F... code MSN needs. For example, I looked up your JO Hambro fund and found the F00000QHKG code from the Morningstar search result. You can check it's right by looking it up again in the search box.

So drop the GB00... code and corresponding F... code into the SymbolMap file for each fund you've got, save it, and run MSMoneyQuotes with the -m option again. Should work.

If anyone's interested, MSN Money seems to be playing ball again. In my case, MSMoneyQuotes managed to find 26 out of 28 securities on the site.

Now would be a good time to capture the symbols you need for that SymbolMap file. Use the method described in post #166 above.

You may need that file sooner or later and it's easier to build it this way than to have to search MSN's truly awful website.

If you are going to be upgrading to Windows 10 just be aware that I needed this registry hack to get MS Money to work
