I have 85 books listed and I was thinking of upgrading to a pro-trader at the weekend, you'll have to let us know what happens coz I don't want lots of hassle. I hope they sort it out for you quickly.
The prices on play are very good so I am very excited about selling on there, I know it won't last long but the prices are good at the moment. Shame I haven't sold anything yet. Has anyone sold anything on play yet?

 I'd miss that post from FFM, not heard a thing since I upgraded on play, not even a confirmation! Though haven't had a sale yet either!
Haven't quite got to grips with the upload template yet, but looking at some of the stats produced on the amazon board, sales are less than 2% what they are on amazon and the play catalogue is tiny in comparison too, mainly having newly published books and then not all of these are listed either! I may well cancel my pro account before the end of the month if the fees don't justify it and only list items I have multiple copies of to save me the hassle of adjusting stock levels every day.Do You Twitter?

Hi Rupert
I read Chris's (TBB) post on Amazon the other night where he had calculated the Books Depository's success (or lack of). It has made me have a rethink about Play, I'll probably try it for the first month (assuming I get reinstated) and take it from there.
I think the problem is that buyers don't necessarily think about books and play.com in the same thought - books and amazon maybe, games and play.com yep, absolutely anything and ebay definitely.
Perhaps once play get established there may be more of a market there, but by then the prices will be low.

Thanks for your kind thoughts Kat
I think it is a bit of a learning curve for the chaps at Play, give them a week or two and they will have got the hang of it.
I've been on the phone a couple of times, first time the poor guy didn't know if he was punch bored or countersunk. 2nd time a guy took more personal details and said I could now be 'checked out' with my cc company. Today I got an email saying they were on the case but could I give them my email address (sorry got to :rotfl: ).
So, I am hopeful and will report back if I do get put back on. They have assured me that my listings are still there - just no one can see them to buy 'cos my account is closed.

Sold my first book on Play! It was a high ranked book and it did sell for less than the amazon price, and left me with about 50p less than I would have got selling it on amazon, but it's an extra sale, and hopefully my first Play.com feedback!!! I feel like a newbie again!
Maybe we should get AT to start a play.com sellers thread!
I agree that they are having some teething problems, which is probably why they invited the likes of Book Depository onto the site a few months ago. It may well take some time to build up awareness of the playtrader scheme and iron out the wrinkles, but they certainly are planning on giving amazon a run for it's money.
As for the book depository's sales on play, they may only be 2% of their amazon sales, but I'd struggle to fulfill 1% of their orders!Do You Twitter?

Well done Rupert - so the advance scouting party is making headway into the uncharted waters? but it seems like the natives are a little unfriendly (well they are to our FFM)
Start another thread? heck no! I spend far too long on here as it is, I'm *supposed* to be compiling an index of all the jam and preserve threads over on Old Style, I promised to do this back in January and what with one thing and another I haven't even looked at it yet - shame on me!!!
How about if we changed the title of the thread to include it?0 -

YAY! Just reporting my first sale on play.com!
It seems a little similair to green met in that you have to click a button to confirm dispatch before your funds are transferred to your account. But then it looks like funds are available for withdrawing or spending!
Anyone else broke their duck on play yet?Do You Twitter?

CONGRATS RUPERT ON YOUR FIRST SALE! :T :j
How many do you have listed?
I am going to upgrade for one month at the weekend and will list all the books I can. If I sell enough to make the £20 back then I will keep it. Will give it a trial run.
Oh yeah, I don't expect a response but I was cheeky enough to email the book depository and I asked if they could tell me how their sales are doing on play and whether they think it's worth it, they probably won't reply but you never know.
Rupert why don't you start your own Official Selling on Play thread? Or I could start one if you don't want to?

If anyone would like to start an official 'selling on play' thread then please do so. I think these long discussion threads are useful as I had never really considered Amazon before I started to get engrossed in ATs selling thread, so maybe the same thing will happen if Play takes off.

Looks like it is safe in the world of play.com, but will keep a look out.
