Selling your stuff on Play.com

  • I think that there are a lot, like me, waiting to see how you go on with this before having a go, rare_stuff...you are our guinea pig!

    Morning AT

I applied to be a pro-seller last night, with nearly 4000 books the thought of only being able to list 50 at a time was too restrictive. Plus, their listing tool will make it all quicker. Fingers crossed they find me 'acceptable'.

So, like Rupert I can try it out and let you guys know.

I had a read of the book depository's feedback last night, one of the pitfalls seems to be that buyers are not expecting 'used' books and this leads to easy negatives - not sure my nerves can take that

    Anyway, off to work :(

It's a no from me too.

But I have taken the plunge and listed a few bits on Play.com. But the PlayTrade area is 'undergoing maintenace' at the moment so I can't list any more. So it isn't only Amazon that has problems!!

I shall only list the 50 as I'm finding that alot of my books - ie. ones that are way way down on the sellers lists are not even on the Play.Com site. I'm just going to see how it goes for a while - you never know I might even sell something, which is more than I seem to be doing on Amazon Marketplace at the moment - are you listening to me Book Fairy?

I thought it was either Rupert or me that had broken it - it must have been you

By the way have you noticed that you can list 100 now - well, you could if it was working.

wonder if it will remain broken for the weekend now? :(

Was hoping to get hold of the upload template so I could spend the weekend bulk uploading stock onto the system! If anyone does have a bulk template could you let me know?

    My thoughts exactly :(

I was hoping to make a dent in listing my stock too.

Would be grateful if anyone does have a copy of the upload template.

Looks like the earlier problem is fixed! Received a nice email earlier to notify me of this!

Do you think Amazon are paying attention?

Fingers crossed whilst attempting my first bulk upload!

    Hi Rupert

Well, thanks for your help over the past couple of days, but I've just had a new development with play.com.

I merrily listed 100 of my books and signed up for the pro merchant bit - so that I could use the uploading template etc and guess what ...

    They've closed my account

I've got an email saying they want to do an additional security check and to phone their customer services - which I did. The chap I spoke to didn't know what to do and suggested I email another department, no response so far.

At least Amazon sales were looking up yesterday, none today but it is nice and sunny outside so not too many people online I guess.

Hope you're getting on okay with play.com, keep your fingers and toes crossed for me.

Oh FFM That's very sad that they have closed your account!!

I have 85 books listed and I was thinking of upgrading to a pro-trader at the weekend, you'll have to let us know what happens coz I don't want lots of hassle. I hope they sort it out for you quickly.

The prices on play are very good so I am very excited about selling on there, I know it won't last long but the prices are good at the moment. Shame I haven't sold anything yet. Has anyone sold anything on play yet?
