Selling your stuff on Play.com

Had an email from Play today saying that it will be free to sell 10 items through them in January! :T
There are terms and conditions:
There's never been a better time to try out PlayTrade, the new entertainment marketplace from Play.com. Throughout January you can sell up to 10 items on PlayTrade without paying any commission. It's a great way to trade in your unwanted Christmas gifts or just clear some space at home after the festive season!
How it works:-
- The first 10 items that a customer buys from you during January will have their fees refunded.
- If you already have products for sale through PlayTrade, you don't need to re-list them. Both new and old listings are covered by the promotion.
- To qualify for the refund of fees, any orders should be dispatched to the customer within 2 days.
- The 10% commission fee and the 50p closing fee will be refunded once you confirm dispatch. The refund may take up to 24 hours to appear in your PlayFunds account.
- You can use 100% of the money you make from selling these items on PlayTrade. Eg, if you sell a DVD for £10 you can use the full £10 to buy the DVD you really wanted.
- If you wish to withdraw your funds instead of spending them on site, this will be subject to a 5% transfer fee.
- If you are lucky enough to sell more than 10 items, our normal fees will apply from the 11th onwards. Please see our fees page for more details.

This is the first time I have seen your thread but I just wanted to add that I have made about £250 in the last few months just selling old CDs and DVDs that I don't want.
I then replaced all my friends videos with DVD box sets which has saved me loads of space and spent some on Christmas presents so its been a great sucess for me
Also I work for a charity and am currently setting up online book sales through Amazon although I am considering Play.com instead after my own successNot been here in years! Hi everyone. Make £10 a day challenge = £78.45/1550 -

i have loved play.com, i make so much more than amazon and have about £300 sat there to spend. which of course encourages me to buy more at play.
shall remember to not turn my sales back on until 1st jan (off at present as at folks for xmas).
only annoyance is that you can't sell games consoles - i wanted to sell a DS, and could not. I could sell consoles on amazon after emailing them to ask if i could, seemed to be no way to do it on play.0 -
Hello
I've been selling old CDs and DVDs that I don't want any more on playtrade for a few months and it's been going quite well.. particularly for DVDs, they sell well but CDs are not in such high demand (unless I just have very poor taste).
I'm wondering whether to take the plunge and go for protrader status .. I have a lot more CDs to get rid of, and I'm thinking that if I can list them all I'll shift more than 40 a month and so offset the subscription fee.
What's bothering me though is how do I get out of it if I find I'm not selling enough for it to be economically viable? Do I have to cancel my listings to bring the total down to 100 and then change to the standard non-subscription status?
I'm also wondering what the 'pro trader selling tools' are which are mentioned on the site but not described anywhere that I can see.
If anybody can help me out with these questions I'd be grateful.
Thanks in advance,
Andy0 -
My CDs sell much better than my DVDs - maybe I have bad taste in movies! I find that CDs sell for higher prices than DVDs and DVDs are reduced in price after they have been out for a while but CDs generally go up in price if they are quite a bit older and often are harded to get hold of newNot been here in years! after selling an item for £15.95 on playtrade on friday which i posted yesterday, my total balance was £65.50. I transferred the full £65.50 out, which incurred a transfer fee of £3.28 and the remaining £62.22 went to my bank account. my balance was then £0.00.
Today i checked my balance, not sure why as i have not sold or refunded anything, but was confused to see that my balance is now £2.10.
For some reason I have had the fees from selling the £15.95 item refunded to my account 2 minutes after withdrawing my balance. it was a 50p completion fee and £1.60 closing fee. so my first thoughts were that i had refunded the buyer in error, but this does not appear to be the case as the refund link is still available, i've had no email to say i have refunded and the funds have not been taken from my balance to have issued a refund.
so it would appear that play have refunded my fees for this transaction for no reason whatsoever. so i have just looked back at my other transactions and i have noticed that i have had my completion (50p) fees and closing (10%) fees refunded on all 6 items i have sold since 3rd january, a total of about £7.50 in fees refunded.
anyone else got the same thing? any idea why this is happening?0 -
Play.com are refunding fees for the first 10 items sold in January. I got an email about the sale and it was mentioned at the bottom of the email. Good news especially if you are selling a high value itemNot been here in years! Hi everyone. Make £10 a day challenge = £78.45/1550

now have £375 in playfunds
Though i have now had issues with 2 play sellers, the same game, neither time do they send it - the status stays as processing. first one didn't send at all after 10 days so play refunded me and the 2nd, ordered 4pm Wed, emailed him about not sending recorded, he emailed to say fine, not been changed to dispatched at all. have sent another email to follow up.
Its supposed to be dispatched within 2 working days so i'd expect to be sent Friday. Don't play chase items marked as not dispatched?
Fele i should neg the first seller but then i wonder, perhaps an issue with my payment through playfunds? will see if 2nd seller responds to my email and says that.0
