And who is anyone else to say that IS what he's hearing?

I have no reason to doubt what he is saying. He's there, I'm not.

Nor does anyone have any reason to assume what he's hearing is abuse for that very reason.
  • ITS BETTER TO DO SOMETHING RATHER THAN NOTHING

if there is nothing going on then the social will just leave them alown
but if they are abusing the kids (you said he hits the wife ) i bet the kids get it too . they will take them
i know this nxt bit might sound dramatic but i think its true

YOU MIGHT BE THERE ONLY CHANCE OF HELP REPORT IT TO POLICE SOCIAL SERVICES AND NSCP , AS SOON AS U HEAR IT. ALSO I WULD RING SOCIAL SERICES NOW AND REPORT IT THEY HAVE TO INVESTIGATE
please ring even if its nothing its beter to get them checked

I wouldn't like to think I had been either accused of or investigated for child abuse. Even if it is to be unfounded, that sort of thing can hang over a person and should it ever be made public (and there's not saying it couldn't) could do serious damage to what may be an innocent person (i'm not saying the father is but i'm talking generally).

Tbh, though it would upset me, I would be glad that someone had to courage to take that step and look out for my children's welfare.

Too many people turn a blind eye these days, and that's how kids slip through the cracks.

Someone on here has already stated a case where the husband abused the wife but never laid a finger on the kids. The two do not go hand in hand.

Is that just at the start though? Is it possible that he will turn his frustrations onto the kids at some point if his issues aren't addressed?

I'm just postulating here. He could've already addressed his issues, there could be nothing to worry about etc etc. I'm just wondering in more general terms if it is a slippery slope type situation.

I guess there's always a chance it could be but there's nothing to say either way. It's a strange thing because I've heard of cases where a man (or woman for that matter) would think nothing of beating their spouse but the thought of beating their children appalls them. Then of course there are instances where if they're beating their spouse, the children also get it.

I just don't think any of us know the truth when it comes to strangers and it seems a bit harsh that people would automatically assume the father is abusing the children just because he has done it to the wife.

I understand your viewpoint completely, and in this case I have no idea so wouldn't like to hazard a guess.

But...I do know that most people who have beaten their partner/spouse, at one time said 'I would NEVER beat my partner/spouse.' and genuinely meant it at the time. Which is what makes me wary of a guy beating his wife. He probably thought he never would, until he did. So there is always a possibility that the same could happen with the children.

If there is just a suspicion you must report your concerns. Well done Op.

It is not being nosey at all, i cannot believe what you are saying.

I would always report if i thought there was something wrong, we are talking about children here, honestly , what is more important upsetting an innocent parent or saving a child?

Oh well, excuse me while I go cry in to my pillow because someone doesn't agree with me.
