Orange 'Free' Broadband

  • Have just spoken to Orange ( no hassel in speaking to a human either) to check facts about using them for line rental and calls similar to the package we already have with BT. Seems that I was misinformed/misunderstood before and in fact it will cost me much the same to take their offer for a 12 month contract for line rental etc so will continue with free unlimited broadband. Now I am thinking hard about what to do.

Ah! Sorry, Fitz2012, paw-slipped, meant to write 18+ not 15+.

But yes, uncanny isn't it, that the numbers are the same?
But it's still free, you know ;) :rotfl:

Had a call from secret squirrel!

Offer = Line rental+free BB+ evening and weekend calls for same as I currently pay BT = £14.60 per month.
12 month contract, then will continue at that price until my mobile contract finishes March 2014.
But of course involves transferring my line to Orange.

I asked about being released from my mobile contract now, without penalty, he could not respond as he was from the BB department!!!!

Have told them to call me back Monday afternoon whilst I mull it over!;)

In the meantime, I will phone Exec Office tomorrow to ask about cancelling my mobile contract on the basis of miss-selling.

Had enough of phone calling for today!

The specialist team cant tell you if you can be released from mobile now? how odd, you would think after 4 weeks they would have got the answers ready. What will they then be saying to those like me who have already moved our broadband and are just seeking cancellation of mobile contract owing to miss selling. As that formed 'my requirements' in my communications with you as per your complaints procedure orange.

  • There is much food for thought in this thread. I have had the said letter. called Orange and after a rather unsatisfactory discussion when I was told it would cost me a lot more to use them for home phone and line rental, I have decided to use BT who I have my current line rental and home phone with. I shall keep my mobile phone with Orange and once my contract is coming to an end, will shop around so I can leave Orange.

    Are Orange completley bonkers!

Exactly! Which is why I have not given them a response, I just listened and made notes!

I asked why they thought I may want to continue with a company that had lied and destroyed all trust/faith...........he said he understood.

You will see I have added further to my post, and I will call the exec office to inquire re penalty free cancellation of my contract tomorrow.

Yes, I have now added that info to my original post, sorry omitted it to begin with.

They do seem pretty desperate to get hold of peoples land lines and this does NOT sit well with me.

In fact alarm bells are ringing!........and I am normally trusting by nature

In the first letter from Orange it said 'Please note that if we don't hear from you, your broadband will stop working on ...'.

In the second letter from Orange it said 'if you don't get in touch, unfortunately your broadband will stop working on ...'

So, I have complied by contacting Orange and getting in touch. Does this mean my broadband will not stop working ?!
It should mean exactly that. It doesnt say if you dont get in touch AND transfer your line rental. But eventually some bright spark at Orange/EE might notice this and correct the wording.
In any case they will have to send out another set of letters to everyone. How much time & effort etc will it all cost to involve several members of senior management to initially discuss and finall delegate it to someone without the required knowledge to write and publish without review, as mangers have done their job, and then add on the costs of printing, envelopes and posting.

At this rate the costs of this fiasco in terms of goodwill, time & effort and postage etc will take quite a while to be paid back even if they are lucky to retain some of the customers they have upset.
