Hi Flying-High,
I have taken the bait from Orange and signed another 2 year contract on one of my mobiles - price was the deciding factor - both monthly and handset price could not be touched elsewhere .
Time will tell if I will regret it but as we stand I have just had my monthly broadband statement from them and it still shows no charge and that's 10th Feb to 10th March ...
You do realise T Mobile are EE don't you ?

Hi Yeh I know that T mobile are EE... T Mobile offered the best package available at the time for the right price... Far cheaper than what Orange could offer.
We'll wait and see, If it gets switched off then I'm happy to swap to BT. I'm out in the sticks and can't get the deals other people can do to the exchange we use.0 -
Orange had debited by bank account 29.69 for termination of the free BB contract as I have moved house. To be honest I didnt even know that orange BB department had my bank details but I guess they did through the mobile phone account.
Anyway, phoned them and they are going to send me a cheque within 10 days as a refund on this charge. I wait with baited breath for this cheque.0 -
Just received my notification of T&C changes in March. So they cant put up my mobile costs beyond RPI. but still means that they can put them up. So what's the betting it will now go up by RPI every 12 months ? As the change to my T&Cs is not detrimental I cant get out of my contract.
At least 0800 will be free at somepoint in 2015 and perhaps the 0845 rip off will also be reduced. They might have to start being competitive.
Broadband changed to someone else already, EE couldnt provide fibre at the cost I could get elsewhere, even with the £5 discount against it.
It would be great if EE was in the minority, but unfortunately Ofcom are toothless and dont serve the customer interest at all.0 -
Just an update...
I am finally free from Orange, one of the worst companys i,ve ever had the misfortune to associate myself with.
Broadband is with Plusnet and mobile is with Ovivo now.
Good riddance Orange!0 -
My phone contract ends on the 17th April so I gave notice and am transferring the number to PAYG as there is no EE signal where the phone is used. As the contract was ending my free broadband would also end so I cancelled my direct debit. It seems there have been charges of 42p which they have not collected for over 2 years because it is below their limit. I moved to BT infinity so my copper phone line was removed by BT and as I had a new line did not need a MAC. EE are now claiming a disconnection fee even though they told me the contract would end on the 17th April when my contract ended.
They are now claiming a disconnection fee because I did not give them 14 days notice. I fail to see how they can claim this cost and have requested a final invoice so I can start the complaints procedure and fight this outrageous claim.
I spoke with customer service last week to cancell the phone contract and they confirmed that BT had advised the service was cancelled yet EE claim they do not know. These people have gone downhill and continue to do so even to the extent of claiming for non existent services. My broadband service showed I have the talk service but this was ended a long time ago.
I was told that I would receive an account closure letter but now they are claiming the account is open, how that can be when the line is removed is beyond me.
Either way my contract "ends" on the 17th April and they were advised on the 18th March so more that 14 days from the contract end date.0 -
In 2006/2007 orange offered me £5 unlimited broadband for life, if i kept my mobile phone with orange. This was done over the phone, there were no terms and conditions mentioned or implied and they did not say they could withdraw the offer. I will check my paperwork, but i don't think they sent anything in writing, so it was a verbal contract.
I've just received a letter from EE/Orange saying that my £5 unlimited broadband for life contract is being ended.
I've spoken to them on the phone and told them they can't just cancel the contract as they didn't make any provision to withdraw the offer or cancel it.
I'm awaiting a call back from someone who deals with contracts!
Companies can't make an offer for life and then withdraw it
I'm not having it!0 -
Hi Paul,
As you can see by the length of this thread this is not a new thing.
There are those who like me were told their broadband was free for the life of their mobile contracts and have had that removed.
This started to come about around 18 months or more ago.
Without telling you how to suck eggs all I can say is get in touch with the executive office at Orange and state your case. You should be able to get it at least extended until the end of your current mobile contract term. You may also, if it suits you better, try to get out of your existing contract as you can argue it is detrimental to you financially - though you will need to be persistent.
Good luck
