So you are just on a rolling monthly mobile contract now then?

It does look like they,re leaving it "free" then or knowing orange they,ll soon realise they,re not charging you and bill you on the 10th Feb.

Mobile 2 yr contract ends Jan 28th, second mobile contract ended some months ago. So yes out of contract and on monthly basis now.
Time will tell as to what Orange do but I can't imagine I'm the only one but who knows ?
I will post when anything happens.

  • Surprised by the amount of people affected by this that haven,t updated the thread.

    Thanks for the update nobby.
  • I think most of the people who were contributing here have already been forced into either moving their line rental to Orange or have moved away from Orange by now.
It has been a long time since all this became an issue but I had thought that there may have been a relatively few others like me who are coming to an end of their mobile contracts and thus the end of their 'extended' ' free for life' broadband .

Hi, I don't dip into the forum very much but just saw this thread. I have had all the issues and arguments about the free broadband too. I have always paid the £5 for the live box and 2nd line so when EE cancelled that I too complained having returned the live box. I have never won with the broadband side despite a letter telling me the £5 charge was not for the wireless box (which it was) but for the second line. So they shot themselves in the foot by telling me this against cancelling it. What I did achieve sometime earlier though is to get a credit against my mobile bill of the £5 a month coming to the same thing. However This is one of many things EE doesn't care about, currently I am trying to restore a home signal because in December they also wiped uma.

Going back to the £5 charge if your mobile phone contract bill clearly states free broadband, as mine does (or did before they changed it without my consent) then try and get the discount added to your account.
  • Hi ST,
As you can see by the size of this thread there were many Orange customers affected by their decision to withdraw the free for life broadband that came with an Orange qualifying mobile contract.
There is too much to go into detail but basically Orange were saying that they would continue with it if you transferred your line rental to them as well ( land line rental that is ).
Some did, some could not & some like me fought it on many grounds.
I ended up being compensated by Orange for major aggravation & time needed to fight their decision and my free for life broadband was agreed to the end of my current mobile contract - 28th Jan.
    Hence my recent posts.
I have absolutely no intention of transferring my land line to Orange and will cancel my 2 monthly & 2 iPad PAYG mobile contracts as soon as they attempt to charge me for home broadband .
I have been an Orange customer since they started and a Freeserve / Wanadoo / Orange broadband for many many years - not that Orange seem to give a toss about that !

Nobby, I wasn't referring to land line. I was referring to my mobile contract. I do not and will not take out a land line with EE. I've got £5 credit against my mobile for life (as long as I remain an Orange customer) to offset the broadband charge. (actually I've now managed to get £10 for life).
  • Sorry ST - I was confused ....
As it stands now they have made no further reference to any changes to charges on my account so I will just wait to see what happens .

  • Hi,
    Thanks for the post.
It would make no difference to me what Orange offered in the way of land line rental cost - I just could not have the confidence in them & their service.
I must admit though that I am, purely for financial reasons, considering taking another mobile contract. It does frustrate me that I am in this situation though.
I get 25% 'loyalty' discount from them and due to the length of time I have had an unchanged iPhone tariff with them I get unlimited data and all the minutes and texts I need.
As of now I am still getting my broadband for free - as it was originally meant and after placing a cancelation order on my two pay monthly contracts I have been offered a 64GB IPhone 5S at an excellent price.
I am in a quandary I must say.
